Whether lesbian sex or straight pegging play, strapless strap-ons add a new dimension of pleasure. Plus, you don’t have to worry about tangling straps with these strapless models; it’s all hands-free. But which of the many products and brands should I buy?
Over the last decade, we’ve tested dozens of models and we firmly believe Desire Luxury belongs at the top. The double-ended dildo is made from body-safe silicone and has impressive vibration combinations on each shaft. Our testers especially loved the posable design that kept the bodies closer than other models we tested, thus making the experience more intimate. Other features that received high ratings were the remote control and the non-phallic appearance.
Why You Should Trust Us
Rachel Sommer, Ph.D., has been a significant part of the My Sex Toy Guide since its inception in 2016. The sex expert manages our content creation team, emphasizing in-person testing and a customer-centered operation style. All in all, we have reviewed hundreds of sex toys, including strap-ons, with the strapless models having a special place in our hearts because of the flexible and hands-free design.
For this article, Rachel received great help from our testers Sandra Larson and Shane Davis. She also scoured review sites and forums to learn about other people’s experiences and crucial information needed for the final analysis. No stone was left unturned.
If you have questions for Rachel or want to share recommendations, please don’t hesitate to reach out. You can call her at +1 307-372-3895, send an email to [email protected], or leave a comment below. She typically responds in 1-2 business days.
How We Picked the Products
For this article, I compiled a list of over 25 strapless models. Then, I got the sex experts’ team from My Sex Toy Guide together for a brainstorming session to filter them down to just 12 (we filled two whole whiteboards during this meeting!). When we had the products nailed down, we defined several test criteria that we could measure on a scale from 0 to 100. These included:
- The design is a significant motivating factor when picking strapless dildos. I emphasized to the team to focus on physical attributes like a posable design to enhance flexibility and bulbous shafts for amplified sensations.
- Like other sex toys, the strap-on’s size is essential to the experience. We measured the length and width of both arms so you can know what to expect well ahead.
- Unlike regular models, the strapless strap-ons are more taxing and might be uncomfortable after extended use. Besides only reviewing models made from squishy, human-like material, multiple reviewers tested the comfort to ensure it lived up to our standards.
- Settings. The number of available settings was another area we paid attention to. As always, the more settings, the better. We prioritized vibrators with multiple vibration/suction settings. The more, the better!
- Besides the regular vibrations on both arms, I added a few rabbit strap-ons to add a new dimension of sexual pleasure to the experience. After all, most women don’t orgasm from penetration, so adding a clitoral flicker isn’t the most bizarre design tweak. Is it?
- Controls significantly affect the quality of experience for any sex toy. We prioritized review samples with intuitive interfaces, including fewer buttons and punchy designs that render it easy to locate the buttons even in positions where you don’t have a direct view of the action.
- Quality comprises the materials used and the overall design. I emphasized we only pick strap-ons made from high-quality materials like premium silicone, TPE, and ABS plastic. The design quality was also essential as it meant an enhanced user interface and better sensations.
- Besides picking products with a USB-rechargeable battery, we tested the battery life, so you don’t have to deal with disappointing models. A decent battery life was a must for the sex toys that made the cut.
- Special Features. Some of the bells and whistles we focused on during the testing exercise include wireless control and mobile app integration.
During testing, we rated each test criterion on a percentage scale from 0% (Worst) to 100% (Best). We then calculated the overall score using different weighted metrics depending on the importance of the test criteria. Half the total rating comes from Design (25%) and Stimulations (25%). After that come Materials (10%), Ease of Use (10%), and Comfort (10%).
As soon as my colleagues returned with their findings, I enlisted the services of my colleague and boss, Tim Larson. We reviewed and analyzed the test reports using comparison charts to pick the similarities and differences. We also used research data from review sites and sex toy forums to filter out the most effective strapless strap-ons from the noise.
After what was an excruciating 48-hour exercise, we firmly believe this article represents this year’s 3 best strapless strapons!
Everything We Tested
In this chapter, you can see a comparison table with all the products we tested. As you can see, each row has the test criteria our team used during the testing. To make our testing process even more transparent, we also included the raw test data so you can see how the products performed with each test criterion.
1. Desire Luxury: Our Test Winner

Why we love Desire Luxury:
Desire Luxury performed at the top in the most test categories, and thus, like last year, became this year’s best strapless strap-on yet again! The testers thought the contoured design, with the bulbous consistency, was more comfortable and easier to hold inside than the other models we tested. Especially the raised sections of the pony made it easy to clench onto the strap-on dildo, even when the intensity was over the top. The pony also has a curved head to amplify precise internal stimulation, which made it stand out.
The design also has another benefit: It keeps both bodies closer creating a more intimate experience for both partners. “My favorite part of Desire Luxury is how close you are to your partner during penetration. A strapless version keeps you closer than harness models, which is more intimate”, our tester Sandra Larson wrote in her test report.

Desire Luxury also has a tapered shaft which everyone agreed simplified insertion, even for less experienced users. With a dipped middle section (image above) that culminates in an overall curved design, our testers thought Desire Luxury did a great job with the G-spot stimulation.
Something else that stood out was the flexible pony, with an impressive 180˚ pony adjustability. You can see how it looks when extended in the image below. The design tweak means the strap-on dildo is perfect for people of different body shapes and sizes. Overall, Desire Luxury was rated highest in the Design test category.

Moving on to the stimulations, where the motor is the key element. We appreciated that Desire Luxury comes with a practical wireless remote control (image below), which highly simplifies the experience. It makes cycling through the available combinations easy without worrying about reaching the buttons, which can be a pain in the butt to do while it’s inserted. With 8 vibration patterns, each with 12 intensity levels, we believe all consumers will find a setting they like.
Pro Tip: Our tester Angela Kempf shared a nifty trick to help keep the dildo inside: “After trying it, I realized there’s a little trick to getting it to stay in place. The penetrating person should close their thighs tightly so it doesn’t slip out. If you don’t close your legs tightly, you must do an extreme Kegel to keep it inside the whole time. It’s also important not to overdo it on the lube. Use just enough for comfortable insertion and not a drop more.”

Minor issues we found during testing:
Unfortunately, Desire Luxury is one of the big boys, and keeping it inside can be tricky. It takes time and Kegel exercises to become a pro. In addition, you can’t operate each shaft independently, which is a bummer if the two partners prefer different stimulation types.
Further, the storage bag has a hole on each side, large enough for the remote control and charging cable to slip through. The strapon itself can’t fall through, though, but the functionality of the bag is diminished because you can’t keep all the pieces in one place.
If you want to see what Desire Luxury looks like and how to use it, please watch our unboxing and demonstration video below:
- Material: Medical-Grade Silicone & ABS
- Girth: 4.25″ (shaft), 4.75″ (pony)
- Insertable Length: 5″ (shaft), 4.5″ (pony)
Pros:
- Impressive range of vibration combinations.
- A contoured design promotes precise stimulation.
- The flexible pony suits people of different body shapes and sizes.
- Handy wireless remote control.
- It’s fully submersible, rendering it ideal for aquatic play.
Cons:
- Strapless dildos are for the more experienced users.
- A rechargeable remote control would have been better.
2, Lovense Lapis: Best App-Controlled!

Why we love Lovense Lapis:
I know you want to know about the performance metrics, and we won’t keep you waiting longer. The Lovense Lapis performed better than other app-controlled strapless strapons we reviewed. The Lovense Remote app (screenshots below) was the best sex toy application overall, and the intuitive user interface and multiple fun motions make it exciting to use the vibrating dildo.
We tested multiple apps, and none matched the Remote app’s responsiveness and ease of pairing with Lapis. The app’s integration was second to none. It took a minute or two to get everything set up, and we didn’t experience any abrupt disconnections as we did with some of the other apps. More importantly, the mobile application provides basic information like the battery level so that you can dive into the experience, fully aware of what to expect from the sex toy.

The coolest part of using the app was controlling the three motors independently. “Whether you want more vibrations on the clit vibrator and less on the internal vibes or more intense sensations for the wearer and teasing rumbles for the receiver, the options are endless”, our tester Sandra Larson told me. “The mobile app also lets you create your own patterns and save up to ten of them. In addition, you can sync the rumbles with your playlist or get into a completely new rhythm with sound-activated vibrations”, she continued.
Note: Making the most of the Lovense Remote app can be tricky initially, especially for first-time users. Familiarize yourself with this guide on how to use the Lovense Remote App.

Besides the excellent mobile applications, we found the motor to be the most potent among the strapless strapons we reviewed. The stimulations were more rumbly than buzzy (my favorite). Even in the lower-level settings, the vibrations felt powerful and torque-oriented. Overall, Lapis has an excellent range of vibration settings, which the versatile Lovense Remote amplified.
Let’s talk about the design. The aesthetic, innovative shape was gorgeous and sturdy, making for an alluring spectacle. We loved the minor tweaks that made the Lapis ideal for G-spot and clitoral sensations. In addition, Lapis feels a bit lighter than some of the other strapons we reviewed, making it perfect for extended use.

Something else about the design that stood out was the thoughtful dimensions. As you can see in the image above, the smaller internal arm has a thicker and knobby texture for internal gripping. In addition, the designers conveniently placed the ON/OFF buttons in a spot that was the easiest to locate with the toy inside two bodies: on the base of the dildo. The intelligent button placement ensures you don’t interrupt the moment of pleasure. Thank you, Lovense!
The testers also appreciated the flexible neck, making it comfortable for prolonged use. Most of the models we reviewed tend to get uncomfortable after some time, but the flexible shape meant the Lovense Lapis was cozy regardless of your body shape. (You can see how the size compares to Desire Luxury in the below image).

Note: The reviewers were amazed at how discreet the strapon was. The decibel meter ranged between 47 and 63 when we tested it, a relatively low number for the size and power.
Lovense Lapis is one of the most versatile sex toys in this article. The design is ideal for couples of all genders who enjoy penetration. In addition, the waterproof dildo is aquatic play-ready, and with the Lovense Remote app, people in long-distance relationships can enjoy renewed intimacy.

The build quality was also solid. We were skeptical that the joints from the posable design would give in, but after vigorous testing, they still feel sturdy like they did when we unboxed the sex toy. In addition, the choice of silky and plush silicone material makes Lapis perfect for most people, including those with sensitive skin.
Minor issues we found during testing:
Unfortunately, strapless strapons are reserved for the most experienced folks. If it’s a first-time sex toy or you’re an intermediate dildo user without much experience, start with a regular strap-on dildo.
In addition, the designers maintained a semi-realistic design, which can be limiting to the inclusivity aspect of Lapis. We think it would be better if it was non-phallic so it’s more inclusive.
If you want to see what Lovense Lapis looks like and how to use it, please watch our unboxing and demonstration video below:
Features:
- Material: Silicone
- Insertable Length: 1.61″ (pony), 3.43″ (shaft)
Pros:
- Convenient Lovense Remote app.
- The impressive design enhances retention and user experience.
- Phenomenal build quality.
- The most powerful motor.
- Multiple motors can be regulated independently.
- It’s ideal for internal and external stimulations.
Cons:
- The phallic design undermines the inclusivity aspect.
- It’s expensive ($259 when not on sale).
3. Eve’s Vibrating Strapless Strap-On: Our Budget Pick!

Why we love Eve’s Vibrating Strapless Strap-On:
We picked Eve’s Vibrating Strapless Strap-On as our budget winner because it was the only affordable model that performed well in the two areas that are important for strapless designs: First, it stayed inside better than the other products in the budget segment (some of them were very bad at this!) Further, despite its price tag it still gave us strong, rumbly vibrations. Most other low-cost strapless strap-ons failed miserably in one of those areas. Some in both.
The biggest reason we rated it above the others was stability. A strapless strap-on MUST stay in position during the entire experience. Full stop. Cheaper models were either too slippery or too loose, forcing our team members to constantly readjust the insertable arm. Eve’s design, on the other hand, gripped far more securely, which meant it was easier for the wearer to control the pace and angle.

Power was the second critical factor. In the budget segment, most motors disappointed as soon as we turned them on. No power, no rumble, just buzz without depth. To our delight, Eve’s Vibrating Strapless Strap-On gave us genuine internal pressure for the receiver and strong G-spot and clitoral stimulation for the wearer. It even rivaled the two more expensive models above.
Versatility was another area where Eve outshone the other review samples. We quickly found out that many budget strapless strap-ons are difficult to maneuver when you want to try more than one position. But this one performed consistently well in most (missionary, doggy, cowgirl, etc), plus it stayed inside well even during position changes. We also found that you can use it as a stand-alone clit stimulator.

Finally, build quality played a major role in the selection. Manufacturers in the budget segment typically cut corners, like using stiffer silicone, weaker joints, or awkward charging solutions. But Adam & Eve used soft, body-safe silicone that held up well during our testing, plus made cleaning easy. However, the battery life was a bit short and the single button (image above) was sometimes easy to mis-press, but these are just minor flaws and don’t compromise the core performance of this beauty. For under $100, the build quality was better than any of the comparable review samples, which is why we recommend this product for our budget readers.
Minor issues we found during testing:
As with any strapless strap-on, sometimes keeping it in place takes a lot of effort and muscle, so it won’t work for everyone. But aside from that, my only qualms were the short battery life and how easy it is to turn off accidentally.

Other Good Alternatives
Vixskin Peacemaker is the largest strapless strapon on this list and is reserved for the most experienced users. Luckily, my partner and I have stretched out over the years, but even then, this massive bad boy was a challenge that took lots and lots of lube, especially during anal play. The penetrative shaft’s 6.5″ insertable length might not be the longest, but the 1.9″ diameter will undoubtedly offer a formidable test. Mainly because of the pumped veins, a pronounced head, and a well-defined coronal ridge.
Evoke Ergo Fit is perfect for those who want to play around with inflatable strapons. Unlike other models on this list, the pony inflates from 1.55″ to 2″ to create the perfect fit. Besides helping with retaining the strap-on inside, the inflatable design means vaginal penetration is easy because you inflate it once it’s inserted. The strap-on dildo’s shaft has a semi-realistic head and a slight upward curve, which we thought did a decent job massaging the G-spot. “I found it easy to maintain a rhythm when thrusting with the inflatable pony. Jessica, on the other hand, loved the internal stimulation,” Rachel Sommer clarified.
Lovehoney Posable is a good choice for beginners because it has a smooth texture with a few lumps on the shaft. While the bulbous pony takes some getting used to, it has a soft consistency that we rated as “Most Beginner-Friendly”. Something else that stood out was how easy it was to regulate the pony’s angle once inserted. “The posable joint made it easy for me to position the shaft as I wished so that the tapered tip could target Jessica’s G-spot”, our tester Rachel Sommer commented. “With a curved design, the experience was blissful”, she added.
If you’re after stimulating dual sensations, you should look into Happy Rabbit which has a set of bunny ears past the shaft-pony joint for clitoral stimulation. Unlike regular rabbit vibes, both the wearer enjoys dual clit and G-spot orgasms. We loved the penetrative shaft’s tapered head and slightly curved design which made it easier to target the G-spot than the other rabbit models we tested. Without external texturing, the straightforward precision came in handy when Jessica and I were testing the strap-on dildo.
You can find more double-sided strapons in this guide.
But Why Should I Buy One?
The #1 reason to get a strapless strap-on is to enjoy the flexibility of hands-free action. With regular Kegel exercises, the pelvic muscles get toned, and you no longer need your hands. This way, you can use your free hands to stimulate other body parts like the breasts and thighs, leading to more explosive orgasms.
Another reason is to break free from the uncomfortable straps. Most strapped models, especially the cheap ones, are made with tight and scratchy harnesses that can be a vibe killer during sex.
Further, a strapless strap-on promotes dual stimulation to both the wearer and receiver. This way, you can orgasm simultaneously as the wearer’s pony tickles your G-spot and the penetrable shaft works on your partner’s.
Lastly, unlike the strapped models, strapless strap-ons provide more skin contact between lovers, making the experience more intimate.
Strapless vs. Harness Strapons?
The most significant difference between the two is the seamless experience without the annoying metal buckles and oversized leather straps. Strapless strap-ons are more comfortable to use. In addition, there’s more skin-to-skin contact without the straps and buckles, further amplifying the intimacy in the bedroom.
So, while the strapless models are for the more experienced users, they’re more effective and exciting to use than the harness strap-ons.
How To Use a Strapless Strapon?
If it’s your first time using a strapless strap-on, consider wearing it before playtime to acclimatize to the feeling of carrying around an erect penis. Of course, it takes lots of Kegel exercises, but even then, wear it around the house to adjust to the ‘new you.’
Have a generous amount of water-based lube within your arm’s reach. And before you even commence, pour on both ends and slowly slide it into the vagina.
Again, strapless strap-ons take some getting used to, and even the pros need some patience to get things right. In some cases, you might have to give up some sex positions for the more gravity-friendly ones like girl-on-top and spooning.
As always, try to switch between positions/angles and incorporate as many bits of fun into the experience.
You can read more on how to use a strapless strap-on in this guide.
Happy vibing!
