Ben Wa balls have been around for centuries, improving the pelvic floors and tantalizing their users into heightened arousal. History’s women were right to believe that these magic balls could improve their health and sex lives. Cut to the current year, where they’re made from body-safe materials, come in different weights, and are much easier to remove.
LELO Beads are all that and more: they add a touch of luxury to your sexual wellness routine with the harness that allows you to use them one or two at a time. And yet, their price tag is hefty. Find out if they are worth the splurge in my LELO Beads Plus review.
Key Takeaways

These luxury, top-of-the-line weighted vaginal beads are must-haves for post-natal folks and anyone who wants to beef up their pelvic floor. The high price accounts for the extras, like a storage bag, lube, and a harness for extra versatility. Can you find a cheaper set? Sure, but these Kegel Balls are ready for the long haul.
Who Should Try It? If you’ve recently had a baby, surgery, or injury that has contributed to the weakening of your pelvic floor, this product can help you get back into shape. They are excellent for anyone with a vulva that wants extra tone so that you can have longer, stronger orgasms. People with incontinence may also benefit from regular use of these beads.
Who Can Skip It? If you’re looking for a sex toy that can bring you to orgasm, the LELO Beads probably aren’t the best bet. Further, anyone on a tight budget can find similar offerings for less.
You Can Buy It on the official LELO website for $69.
What Are the LELO Beads?
LELO Beads are modern, weighted vaginal beads. There are three versions that you can choose: Mini (which contains the two smaller ones and is meant for those who have never experienced childbirth), Classic (which includes the two heavier ones and is intended for those who have experienced childbirth), and Plus (which contains the heaviest weights). Whether you want to strengthen your pelvic floor without Kegels or get sneakily turned on during date night, these comfortable, sleek beads are at your service.
Inside the plastic is the heavier, spherical weight, so these beads are not solid. Rather, they roll around when you move, creating pleasant and surprising sensations throughout wear. With regular use, you could see improved pelvic floor tone, better continence, and more intense orgasms.
First Impressions and Features
Unboxing
LELO has the best unboxing experience of any sex toy brand I’ve tried. As you can see in the image below, their sturdy, sexy black box has a picture window so you can see the goodies inside. It’s luxurious, and the box is so nice you could keep it, but they include a storage bag, so you don’t have to.
Also included is a sample packet of lube and a brief instruction manual. In the Plus version, they have one ball harness and six total balls of three various weights. They include everything so you can get started right away, including lube, an instruction manual, and a warranty registration card.

The LELO Beads has features to ensure your vagina has a ball, including:
- Varying sizes so you can level up at your leisure
- Smooth plastic provides easy insertion, and the beads won’t attract lint
- Harness allows you to wear two at a time
- The retraction cord means you can rest easy knowing that they won’t get lost

How Do I Use the LELO Beads?
After unboxing, select which size bead you’d like to start with and wash them and the harness if you plan to use two at a time. These beads don’t require charging and can be used upon opening. If you’re only using one, select the color bead that has a retraction cord—only one of each pair does. After you’ve washed them, slide them into the harness (if using), placing the one with the retraction cord in the opening with a hole to pull the cord through.
Next, use the lube provided or your own water-based lube, and using as little as possible, put some on the tip of the bead that doesn’t have the cord attached (if using the harness). The user manual refers to the bead with the cord as the foundation bead and the other one as the crown bead. Slide the crown bead in first, and then slide the foundation one in. It’s kind of like inserting a slippery tampon!
If you’re uncomfortable, try inserting them a little further. They’ll need to get beyond the entrance to the vagina for the most comfortable wearing experience. When positioned properly, they will be barely noticeable and add subtle but perceptible movement as you go about your day. I inserted them standing up, but if you have dyspareunia or an unusually tight vaginal entrance, lay down and lift your pelvis.
Wear the LELO Beads for a while to get the best results. Fifteen minutes each day will make a huge difference, especially if you are actively focused on doing Kegels while they’re inside. Start with the lightest weight and then adjust up accordingly; further, start with just one bead until you’re ready for two. If the balls remain comfortable, you can even wear them for an hour or two on a date to get you hyped up for intimacy later. If they become painful or your pelvic muscles tire, pull them out and wash them with antibacterial soap and warm water. Then, store them in the provided storage bag until you’re ready for your next pleasurable workout.
My Personal Experience
I was intimidated at the prospect of trying out these beads. After all, these were the largest. Fortunately, they proved easy to use and more comfortable than I imagined. I slipped a little of the provided lube on a ball and then on my vulva and stuck it inside. It was easier to accomplish than I thought.
Before I began, I imagined wrestling with a greased sphere, but it was more like inserting a tampon. I walked around and noted how quiet it was, even when it shifted inside me. And then I laughed and immediately ejected the little guy out of me, which was my not-so-subtle sign that I could move up to the larger set. My OB-GYN told me that two vaginal births can give you a pelvic floor of steel, which is what I have had. On the other hand, they may leave you with a weak pelvic floor. Either way, exercising those muscles can improve your health and orgasms, and that’s enough to sell me on the idea.
After using them all week, I found my pelvic floor to be a little sore in a good way. It’s a sign of progress! My orgasms felt a little more accessible, too. Score!
One thing that surprised me about these was the name. When I first discovered I’d be the lucky recipient of LELO Beads, I immediately thought they would be anal beads, which I’m also a fan of. The term “beads” feels like a bit of a misnomer since these are Kegel balls, but hopefully, people will do their due diligence before purchasing.
Packaging
10/10 packaging, LELO. No notes!
Design
The design is minimalistic, which makes sense for a sex toy that will spend most of its life hidden in your closet or in your vagina. Beyond that, the balls are weighted and feel secure. They aren’t as luxurious as others I’ve seen, so if you need that sexy look, consider the LELO Beads Noir, which only comes with one set of balls but has a more sensual aesthetic. Keep in mind that even though the Noir model look like they’re better suited for a sexy date night and the rest of the beads look like they are part of a vaginal workout routine, you’ll get the same benefits no matter which you choose.
Material
The material is body-safe and high-quality. Though the weighted balls are plastic, they stay secure in the harness, even after I applied lube.
Stimulations
The stimulations are gentle yet jarring. It’s kind of like walking around with a sexy rattle inside you. It heightened my awareness of even the slightest movements. These Ben Wa balls proved a great reminder that awareness of your body and its many pleasant sensations are the key to arousal. It’s hard not to be turned on all the time when you have something that makes you feel your G-spot any time you laugh or refill your cup of coffee.
However, it’s important to note for anyone new to Ben Wa balls that these probably won’t bring you to orgasm. The stimulations are geared for arousal and sexual health rather than climax, but that is true of every Ben Wa ball I’ve tried.
Sound Level
Since vaginal eggs are sometimes used for discreet pleasure on a date night out, I was curious if you would be able to hear the weight rolling around inside the sphere. But deadened by my body, it was silent. Totally discreet!
Build Quality and Dimensions
The build quality is excellent. The harness feels sturdy yet flexible, and it’s a cinch to get the beads into place inside it.
Ease of Use
Vaginal beads should never be complicated, but even with that premise, I was pleasantly surprised by how easy these were to use. The design is straightforward enough that you can figure out how to use the harness without the manual. Everything is easy to clean, and the storage bag makes it easy to store.
Versatility
The LELO Beads only serve a couple of specific purposes, but that’s okay with me, because what they do, they do incredibly well. But they do offer the capability to increase the weight very slowly since you can use them one at a time, two at a time, and in different weight combinations. They won’t work for anal use, they don’t vibrate, and they are primarily for sexual health, so if you want something mega versatile, look elsewhere.
Warranty and Support
The LELO beads come with a one-year warranty. Beyond that, they come with a ten-year quality guarantee that gives you a discount off your next purchase. You can’t beat that!
Minor Issues I Found During Testing
This sex toy worked wonders for me. The only downside I found was that you can probably get something similar for less cash if you don’t care about the unboxing experience or the little extras LELO includes. Also, at the price point, it would be nice if you could track your progress digitally in an app, but that’s not the case.
