How We Picked the Products

During testing, we rated each test criterion on a percentage scale from 0% (Worst) to 100% (Best). We then calculated the overall score using different weighted metrics depending on the importance of the test criteria. Half the total rating comes from Design (25%) and Build Quality (25%). After that comes Attachment Compatibility (10%), Stimulations (10%), Power (10%), Features (10%), Noise (5%), and Price (5%)

Once the team returned with the findings, my colleagues offered a helping hand. We analyzed the reports together, using comparison charts to filter out the best from the rest. Besides using expert recommendations, we scoured the internet for certified reviews to understand what regular people who use the vibrating wands feel about them. Why we love We-Vibe Wand 2:

If you love the immense power and broad sensations of a wand vibrator, you can’t go wrong with the all-new We-Vibe Wand 2. Everyone has something that draws them close to a particular product. Still, the model’s cordless design, waterproof body, and app compatibility motivated our testers to select it as the best wand vibrator overall. It’s also the most rumbly wand in our vast collection.

“The vibrator is so powerful, the stimulation might trickle down to the person sitting next to you,” says our product tester Angela Kempf. “Okay. It might be an exaggeration, but the motor on this thing is unlike anything I’ve experienced. I was surprised at how the vibrator ripped orgasm after orgasm with the first try.”

Something else we couldn’t wait to explore was the design and how it affected the experience. As soon as the test began, we noticed how the flexible head simplified stimulation because it easily navigated the body’s contours. Our testers were concerned the supple head would lose the intensity when pressed against the clit for more stimulation but were glad to see it kicking on unscathed.

Something else that stood out about the design was the slimmer handle (image above), which made handling straightforward. We were a bit worried that the powerful motor would be challenging to regulate, but it felt incredibly cozy in the palm, and even at the highest settings, handling was never a problem.

Note: While the intense rumbles might be ideal for experienced clit stimulation fans, it’s essential to know that they transfer to the hands. You might have to switch your arms during play to avoid getting numb.

Our only qualm with the design was its one-dimensional look, with a wide head and a body that continually became slimmer towards the base. We would have loved some flexibility of a pointy and broad side, but that’s wishful thinking. Like other wand vibrators, the We-Vibe Wand 2 is designed for broad external stimulation, emphasizing powerful vibrations and a wider surface area so you don’t miss the mark. Throughout the review process, there was a unanimous appreciation of the Wand’s designer, and we all agreed that the piece was made by someone who masturbated with wand vibrators. The simplistic control interface with the plus button at the top is not standard, but it’s the most intuitive spot for a masturbator fan. In addition, having convenient up and down arrows was crucial because it helped correct excesses when you accidentally went past a favorite setting.

Lastly, the versatile model is compatible with the We-Vibe app (image above). The team loved the partitioning, with a single vibe tab for the straightforward up-and-down rocking of the intensity, and the multi-vibe tab, which lets you regulate multiple patterns and speeds in four quadrants. “I have used the app before with my other toys, and like before, the experience was seamless,” says Sandra Larson. “The only difference is I’ve usually used it with small and discreet vibes, so I couldn’t wait to see how it compared with a larger device.”

Unfortunately, the only way to enjoy a completely hands-free experience is by using sex furniture. I tried the clever tucking between the thighs, but the need for more pressure and something to grind against meant I had to use my hands most of the time. The app adds long-distance romance to a relationship and gives users complete control over the patterns and intensity settings without necessarily promoting hands-free fun.

Note: Unlike its predecessor, the Wand 2’s handle was more ergonomic, and the controls were more intuitive. In addition, its slightly more lightweight, compact body and less squishy head, which makes the vibrations more pronounced, making it an upgrade. Our only concern was the new vibrator didn’t come with the two silicone attachments like the original piece did: the stroker and penis ring.

A Good Alternative: Dame Com

Minor issues we found during testing:

Unfortunately, after extended use, the impressively powerful motor transfers the rumble to the handle, causing numbness. We recommend switching hands during solo or partnered use.

In addition, the masturbating Wand’s massive size means even the We-Vibe won’t achieve hands-free pleasure. You must use your hands to press it against the clitoris for maximum enjoyment.

2. Magic Wand Plus: Most Powerful & Most Attachments!

Why we love Magic Wand Plus:

If you’re looking for the most powerful model to deliver near-break neck speed vibrations exactly where you want them most, this is the wand for you. The Magic Wand Plus is an upgraded version of the old Hitachi classic that, luckily, doesn’t stray too far away from the beloved design of the Original (seen in the image above). It does offer a few desirable upgrades, though, such as a wider range of settings, a non-porous head, and a slight increase in power.

Unboxing the Magic Wand Plus was a relatively uneventful experience. Inside the no-nonsense packaging, you’ll find the wand itself, an instruction manual, and the detachable cord—no fun extras included. Considering its price, I would have loved to see a packet of lubricant and a storage bag, but that’s definitely not a dealbreaker.

If you dip into the user manual before plugging in your Magic Wand Plus, you’ll be met with page after page of warnings about electrocuting yourself. But I will save you the stress and just tell you that the Magic Wand Plus is a non-waterproof and corded sex toy that shouldn’t be used around water, so no tub play!

Now onto the design. The Magic Wand Plus still embodies the Original in that it looks like something you’d find in a late 70s drugstore, making it one of the least aesthetically pleasing sex toys I own. But it still does more than its job, and I guess Magic Wand is a firm believer that, “If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it!”

In fact, design-wise, one of the only changes they made to the original Magic Wand is that the Plus has a tip made of body-safe silicone instead of vinyl (image above). Though a vinyl tip is more than okay for a back massager (which was the intended purpose of the Original), vinyl is extremely porous, meaning that it has thousands of tiny holes that bacteria can move into.

“If you’re considering upgrading from the Original to the Magic Wand Plus, this feature alone should be enough to persuade you to make the change,” says Sandra Larson, one of our product testers. “Using porous sex toys leaves you vulnerable to contracting urinary tract infections, BV, and yeast infections—all things no woman wants to deal with.”

Otherwise, the only other design feature deserving an honorable mention is the cord, which can be removed by flipping a small switch on the front of the Plus, allowing you to store it as long as you want without worry of damaging it. A thoughtful touch!

The Plus is not only the most powerful of all the wands we’ve ever tested, but it’s also the near-pinnacle of easy-to-use wands. With only three buttons (highlighted in the image above), browsing through the four intensity settings is incredibly easy, there’s no learning curve to becoming a Magic Wand master.

As far as settings go, personally, I enjoyed the first two the most, as they’re the most rumbly. The higher settings got a little too buzzy for my liking, though my speed demon product testers were blown away by the super-powered higher settings, which made all other wands seem weak by comparison.

If toy versatility gets you wet, you’ll also be happy to hear that the Magic Wand Plus is compatible with 20+ different heads, ranging from the Tantric Tongue, which boasts pinpointed sensation, to the Love Nub, which, as you guessed, has a bunch of nubs.

Unsurprisingly, this bad boy draws so much power it needs to be plugged into a wall socket, but it’s equipped with a 6-foot cord, giving you a good amount of room to work with. On the bright side, you never have to worry about this baby running out of juice mid-orgasm.

During testing, the decibels ranged from 48 to 67, around as loud as your average conversation. Though the Plus isn’t whisper-quiet, it’s definitely on par with the level of power it outputs.
