The Handy Oh! VibratorThe Handy Oh! Vibrator ReviewThe Oh! Vibrator is a vulva-centric offering from The Handy, the maker of a high-tech penis stroker. Their first foray into female sex toys made me curious what kind of modern, tech-forward device I had in store. With a tagline like “feel the pleasure of sound,” I knew this audiophile was in for a treat. But would the vibrations make the cut? Let’s find out together in this Oh! Vibrator review.

Key Takeaways

4.1 out of 5 stars4.1 out of 5 stars

Overall, this is an interesting entry into sex tech. Crazy power it doesn’t have, but it more than makes up for it with modern features like app-connectivity. It’s pricey for what it offers, but there’s an audience that will appreciate this audio-oriented vibe.

Who Should Try It? If your partner has The Handy masturbator and you have the cash to spend, this vibe will serve you well. Long-distance partners looking to connect will find this enjoyable. For those who plan on using this solo, this is a good purchase as long as you don’t require rumbly vibes to climax.

Who Can Skip It? Anyone who needs a deep rumble or something more affordable should probably look elsewhere.

You Can Buy It on the official The Handy website for $159.

First Impressions and Features

Unboxing

As you can see in the image below, the box is sturdy and has a noticeably gadget-like feel, meaning it looks like something you could pick up at Best Buy. If it didn’t say “smart vibrator” right on the front, you might have been able to leave this out, box and all, on your coffee table because it looks just like a remote control.

The packagingThe packaging

After opening it, I was pleased to find that everything was gently packaged inside. It came with a USB recharging cable, a super soft storage bag, and a quick start guide. It was an opulent experience, no question!

How Do I Use The Handy Oh! Vibrator?

The Oh! Vibrator is easy to use, but you’ll have to do some light reading to get the most out of it. After you unbox it, charge it, which can take up to two hours. To do so, remove the small black covering from the bottom to expose the charging port. When plugged in correctly, an LED light between the four main buttons will gradually glow green and then dim (it should look like the image below). After it is fully charged, clean it by using a cloth, warm water, and soap. The instruction manual says to take care not to get the charging port wet, so this is a vibrator that you’ll want to avoid submerging. Dry it after cleaning and then grab your favorite water-based lubricant.

Next, you’ll have to decide between its three modes: audio, offline, and online. Let’s start with the simplest first, which is the offline mode. The offline mode means you’ll be using the buttons to operate the toy, and it will work basically like every other vibe you’ve tried. Press the power button at the bottom left to turn the Oh on. Then use the plus and minus buttons to alter the intensity and the left and right buttons to change the frequency. I’d never had a vibe where you could change the frequency, so this was a fun addition. You can adjust the pace, making them faster and buzzier or slower and rumblier. If you press the buttons briefly, they change the sensation in a stair-step pattern. If you hold them down, they glide gently from one setting to the next. Neat! Pressing the power button briefly pauses your session. Hold the button down to turn it off fully.

When you’re ready, give the online mode a try. Start by downloading the Handy Onboarding app, which provides you with access to content and the ability to control the Oh! remotely. Once downloaded, the app gives you step-by-step instructions on how to allow Bluetooth to look for your devices and connect both the Oh! and the Handy. The LED light will turn purple when you’re in online mode.

To begin, you can press any of the Oh’s buttons (image below) to turn it on and wait for the green light. Once the app finds your vibrator, press “connect to device.” In the app, you can switch between the online and the audio modes. From here, you can sync the vibrations with adult content from handyfeeling.com. You can also create a connection key in the app to send to your partner to allow them to control the toy remotely.

Lastly, it’s time to try audio mode. Switch to audio mode in the app, and the Oh’s light will switch to blue. Then, turn on some audio that turns you on, whether it’s a banger of a song or some audio erotica. The vibrations will sync with the song that’s playing from your vibrator.

The last button on the body is at the bottom right, called the action button. It’s mentioned nowhere in the manual what this button does.

Once you’ve finished, be sure you’ve turned the Oh! off. I pressed the power button but didn’t see the green light still dimly blinking the first time after use, and the next day, I was disappointed to find a dead vibe. Don’t let this avoidable nightmare happen to you! Then, store your vibe in the provided storage pouch.

My Personal Experience

The back of the box reads “Oh! The Most advanced vibrator,” and I was excited to find out if this was true, or even close to true. I have so many vibrators, many quite advanced, so this vibe had stiff competition from the get-go. To begin, I read about the Oh on the website, which used inclusive language like vulva-owners to help trans people feel welcome to use this toy. Love that!

Something to note: when I unplug this vibe, it automatically turns on. The green light continues to flash. I’m not sure if this is the case with all vibes like this, but it meant that I let the battery die on more than one occasion by accident until my partner realized what was going on. Pro-tip: after you unplug it, check to see if the LED light is still flashing green. If so, press and hold the power button until the light turns off.

Once I tried the Oh in all its glorious versatility, I was impressed. It doesn’t have the strongest stimulations, but it offers a unique experience unlike anything I’ve tried before, since I’ve never tried to listen to music through a vibrator.

Packaging

The Oh was packaged with care, and it came with everything I needed to get started except for water-based lubricant! Plus, it arrived discreetly in a brown cardboard box. You can see all the included items in the below image.

Design

When I opened up the Oh, I was perplexed by the shape. As you can see in the image below, it’s like a mini remote control, with a slight curve to the left. I wondered why the curve, and I never quite found an explanation. More perplexing is the end of the vibe, which is rather blunt and rounded. I’ve never used a small vibe shaped like this before, but in the end, I found its design rather genius. The blunt end means that it provides broad stimulation. But it also has little corners, which I enjoyed since I’m a pinpoint girly. Everyone gets what they want!

Material

The combination of materials used to make the Oh! is sumptuous. It’s a combination of silicone and ABS plastic that looks ultra high-end.

Stimulations

When I turned the Oh! on for the first time, my jaw dropped at how powerful it was. The very first setting was intense AF. I got super excited, until I realized it defaulted to the highest setting. The only way to go was down. That was a disappointment, but the highest setting was still more than enough stimulation to get me off.

The Oh! uses ResoTouch technology in combination with a voice coil motor which is what allows the vibrator to respond in real-time to audio stimuli. It worked quickly and felt seamless. It did eventually heat up, so I would use this cautiously during longer play sessions.

Sound Level

The lack of decibels this vibe puts out is impressive. When I tested it, the sound level ranged from 34 to 51 decibels.

Build Quality and Dimensions

The build quality is beautiful, and the dimensions are slightly bigger than my hands, about the size of a short remote control for your TV.

Despite its small stature, this vibrator has low vibration transfer. Even after lengthy solo play, I could still feel my fingers, which is a rarity.

You can see how it compares size-wise to some of my other vibrators in the image below:

Ease of Use

This vibrator could be easier to use. The six-button interface (image below) isn’t as simple as it could be, which is fine if the features provided mandate the complexity. But this one could have benefitted from a two- or three-button interface instead of six. The lights are color coded, which is helpful but also belies the fact that the setup is a little complicated.

Versatility

The Oh vibrator is surprisingly versatile. It has various frequencies, multiple intensity levels, and will work for people who like pinpoint or broad vibration. You can also sync it up to The Handy, if your partner has a penis and you can enjoy remote pleasure. If you’re in a two-vulva couple, you can sync The Ohs to each other. It’s not every day that sex toy companies make the effort to include couples of all genders, and I’m thrilled that this one does.

The Handy Oh! VibratorThe Handy Oh! Vibrator

This vibe gets even more points for versatility because you can download the app, and voila! Your phone turns into a remote control. Lastly, you can sync this vibe to sounds or adult content for an unparalleled, customizable experience.

The limits on the versatility include the fact that it’s not waterproof and it doesn’t have enough of a range of stimulations to be very versatile; all the vibes reside firmly on the lighter end of the spectrum.

Warranty and Support

The Handy Oh! Vibrator comes with a one-year warranty.

Minor Issues I Found During Testing

I loved the modern, genderless look and feel of this vibrator. But at this price, it should be waterproof and have more intense stimulations. Other than that, it was a home run for me.

Alternatives to The Handy Oh! Vibrator

We-Vibe Wand 2

What has app-compatibility and twice the power of the Oh? That would be the We-Vibe Wand 2, a cordless wand. It works with the We-Vibe app, which I felt was a step up from the Handy Onboarding app, and it’s roughly the same price at $169. However, the Wand 2 is significantly less discreet, louder, and more obtrusive to use during in-person partnered sex. If you want something quieter, the Oh! will be the better choice. But for sheer power, the Wand 2 is better.

Kiiroo ProWand

Pretty in pink and affordable to boot, the Kiiroo ProWand is app-compatible and costs just $100. It’s small, waterproof, and boasts an optional LED light show. This wand is a little fiddly and the buttons were somewhat tricky to learn but it’s an excellent travel wand. It’s the best choice for someone who needs strong vibrations and app-compatibility but doesn’t want to pay for all the bells and whistles.
