Who is Having the Best Orgasms? Recent Global Stats & Research
Orgasms! Who doesn’t love a good ol’ sexual release? An intimate moment with yourself or your partner, celebrating your body and all that it’s capable of, and then boom… a beautiful climax prompting the release of a handful of feel-good hormones. The result? Bliss.
But we’re not just here to tell you how amazing the big ‘O’ is, we’re also here to give you cold, hard facts.
So, the question today is: who is having the best orgasms? Let’s explore with the latest and most accurate data!
The Orgasm Gap: Men vs. Women in Straight Sex
When it comes to straight sex, men are having more orgasms than women. Surprised? Probably not.
This comes from a big 2024 study by the Kinsey Institute, consisting of nearly 25,000 participants from the ages of 18-100. Their key findings?
- Men climax during partnered sex 70-85% of the time
- Women climax during partnered sex 46-58% of the time
Another 2017 large study of over 52,000 heterosexual people concurs, with their research finding men reach orgasm usually/always with a rate of 95% and women at 65%.
Interestingly, (and sadly) these stats haven’t changed much…
In 2025, 566 people were asked to complete a daily diary for 21 days about their orgasms. The results showed:
- Men were 15x more likely to orgasm
- Men were more satisfied than women, with a 90% orgasm rate
- 54% of women experienced an orgasm during partnered sex
Are men having the best orgasms? It seems so.
But what about the orgasm stats by sexual orientation?
Who Enjoys the Most Orgasms by Sexual Orientation?
Heterosexual men top the charts overall, followed closely by gay and bisexual men.
Among women, lesbian women have the most orgasms, followed by bisexual, then heterosexual women.
The aforementioned 2017 study broke it down by sexual orientation with stats:
- Heterosexual men: 95% achieve orgasm every time
- Gay men: 89% achieve orgasm every time
- Bisexual men: 88% achieve orgasm every time
- Lesbian women: 86% achieve orgasm every time
- Bisexual women: 66% achieve orgasm every time
- Heterosexual women: 65% achieve orgasm every time
Essentially, who is having the least orgasms? Hetersexual women.
Lesbian women, on the other hand, outperform straight women mostly because lesbian sex often includes more clitoral stimulation, better communication, and relaxed dynamics.
Global Orgasm Stats and Satisfaction Trends
While many studies on orgasming come predominantly from the western world, there is data to suggest that global satisfaction is on the rise.
A 2024 study by the condom company, Durex
Durex looked at 36 countries, and found that:
- 56% of participants were physically satisfied with their sex life
- 57% of participants were emotionally satisfied with their sex life
Who came out on top? India! (Kama Sutra, anyone?)
The 2024 Ipsos Global Survey
The Ipsos Advisor survey looked at 31 countries to analyse their sexual satisfaction. They found:
- Globally, around 62% of people are satisfied with their romantic/sex life
- The highest sexual satisfaction is in Mexico and India
- The lowest sexual satisfaction is in Japan
The 2025 International Sex Survey
This survey looked at nearly 52,000 people from 42 countries and their levels of sexual satisfaction. With a simple 5-question survey, they found that:
- Those who have sex more often tend to rate their sexual satisfaction higher
- Those in long term relationships sometimes rate a bit lower
In Layman’s terms: more sex often equals better sexual satisfaction (and orgasms).
The 2026 Female Orgasm Study by Flo
A different 2026 study by the app, Flo, focused more on women and how often they orgasm.
The findings?
- 36.9% of women almost always orgasmed during partnered play
- That percentage was noticeably higher when women engaged in solo play
