Unboxing

The packaging is minimal—just the way I like it. As you can see in the image below, the egg and controller come in a clear plastic container, along with the USB charging cord (designed to charge both at the same time—a very cool feature), and an instruction booklet.

This egg is nice. The smooth silicone, the sleek shape, and the chic black color make this toy a definite winner in the looks department, to the point where I was a little intimidated at the thought of putting it inside myself—yet another reason I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it to a beginner. It practically screams (or, rather, whispers seductively), “I am a sophisticated sex toy!”

How Do I Use The CalExotics Remote Control Love Egg?

Both the egg and the remote share a USB charger, so simply plug them both in and you’ll have a complete charge in about an hour. With a full charge, it lasts for 90 minutes at maximum speed, or 120 at the lowest speed. Once the egg is charged, turn it on by holding the power button until a red LED light appears. With some water-based lube, slide the egg inside until it is nestled against your g-spot. Then press the XO button on the remote to cycle through the 12 patterns. Or hand it over to a partner and let them do it for you. When you’re done playing, hold the button on the remote for 3 seconds until the egg stops vibrating, remove it with the retrieval cord, then make sure to turn it off by holding down the power button again.

The egg can also be controlled by itself, via another button on the base, however this seems like a needless feature, since it’s designed to fit completely inside you. Maybe it’s handy if you’re using it externally, but let’s be honest, something with “g-spot” in the name isn’t going to be the best external toy in the world, nor should it be.

My Personal Experience

Design

The design is gorgeous, with a sleek, black, curved shape.  While I definitely appreciated the way it looked, its sophisticated aura may be more daunting to a beginner than something in a softer or brighter color. Even the fact that the name doesn’t have a pun makes it seem much more posh and, well, sexy, than a lot of beginner-friendly toys. This is like the egg version of that boss or coworker you’re intimidated by but also have a bit of a crush on.

The remote is small and significantly more discreet looking than a lot of others I’ve tried, so it won’t cause much of a scandal if you’re using it out in public. The remote looks great, too, with its single silver button in the shape of the company’s XO logo.

Material

The soft, smooth silicone made this egg feel just as luxurious as it looked, and the safety cord was durable without feeling uncomfortable when I tried it on under my clothes. While I have enjoyed hard plastic toys in the past, there’s just something extra special about silicone that takes them to a different level.

Stimulations

With the single button on the remote (and the one on the egg itself), you or your partner can cycle through 12 different patterns and vibration levels. And that is my one and only issue with this toy. For something that costs $64.99 and is obviously meant to look and feel quite luxurious, I would expect better than a single button cycling through different patterns and intensities. Being able to cycle through different patterns with the option to adjust intensity levels with a +/- button would bring the stimulations of this toy up to the level of its looks. Also, without an option to bring down the intensity level means I would not recommend this product to a beginner.

Sound Level

This egg was quiet enough to be used for outdoor play, as long as you’re not going somewhere completely silent.

Build Quality and Dimensions

Despite my issues with the single-button controller, this egg looks and feels wonderful. With a circumference of 3.75 inches and an insertable length of 4 inches (along with a safety cord), it is small enough to fit comfortably inside you, but it’s shaped in such a way that you really feel it when the vibrations start.

Ease of Use

While single-button toys might be the most exciting, they definitely are easy to use! Simply turn on the device, insert it, and select your (or your partner’s) desired setting with the remote.

Versatility

This toy can be used for outdoor play, since it is quiet, and the remote is smaller and more discreet than a lot of others I’ve used. The remote might still draw more attention than an app-controlled toy, but you can keep it in your pocket or a purse while pressing the button, so it shouldn’t draw any attention.

While this device can be used externally, it’s not exactly conducive to it. Since the entire thing vibrates, it simply isn’t as comfortable to hold as a wand vibrator. But I’m certainly not going to fault a toy with “g-spot” in the name for not being an amazing external vibrator as well.

Warranty and Support
