How to Charge Lovense Toys? PRO TIPS From A Sex Toy Tester!

You may have noticed that we really love our Lovense toys here, and if you’re reading this, you may love them as much as we do! All vibrating sex toys need to be charged, of course, and Lovense toys are no exception. Where they are exceptional is that they are designed with the user experience in mind and that extends to their charging.

1. Plug-in Charger

The plug-in charger, also known as a barrel port connection, is a classic for a reason — it’s easy and it works. Some Lovense sex toys, like the Lush 2, charge this way. The Domi 2 is another Lovense toy with a plug-in connector. This is part of what contributes to its exceptional battery lifespan, which is significantly longer than that of many other wand vibrators out there.

You need to plug the barrel plug into the charging port on the toy, and then plug the USB cable into a power source. You can use a USB port on your computer, a charging dock, or a wall outlet with a USB adapter. Watch for the indicator light to come on. This signals that your Lovense toy is connected and charging.

2. Magnetic Charger

Other Lovense sex toys, like all modern rechargeable sex toys, come with innovative magnetic chargers. With a magnetic charger, there is nothing to plug in. The magnets on the charging cable line up with a set of magnets on the toy. One of the reasons why we are fans of magnetic charging is that there is no open port on the sex toy, which makes it easy to keep clean and reduces the risk of contamination.

We noted above that Lovense’s Lush 2 has a plug-in charger. One of the upgrades to Lush 3 (and later Lush 4) is magnetic charging. In this case, this is truly an upgrade because the Lush 3 now offers up to five hours of run time on a single charge, and it will hold a full charge for up to 30 days.

All that you have to do here is attach the magnetic end of the charging cable to the Lovense sex toy, and then proceed to plug the cable into a power source as described above. Monitor the charging status of the toy by watching the indicator light, and disconnect when the toy is fully charged.

Maintaining and Caring for Sex Toy Batteries

While Lovense uses high-end internal batteries, the truth is that maintaining a sex toy’s rechargeable battery is not really different from maintaining other rechargeable batteries. Read on to learn how to make the most of your batteries!

Lovense (and many other sex toy manufacturers) use lithium-ion batteries in their devices. These batteries are rated for between 300 and 15,000 full charging cycles. Obviously, this is a tremendous difference, and it’s part of why high-end sex toy manufacturers can justify the higher price tag.

A battery cycle consists of fully charging and then fully draining the battery. We can help extend battery life by reducing the number of full charging cycles. Try not to let your battery become completely exhausted; charge it after every use (or if it has been sitting unused for several months, but who lets their good toys sit unused like that?).

Always use the original charging cable that was provided with your Lovense sex toy (you can contact the manufacturer directly if you need a replacement). Other cables may look and feel compatible, and they may even successfully charge your device, but if the amperage or voltage is even slightly different, this could damage your battery, especially with repeated use.

We recommend keeping your toy charged between uses, but overcharging it can also shorten the lifespan of the battery. Watch the charging indicator light and disconnect the charging cable when the battery is fully charged, or even just before. Depending on the power source, most Lovense models charge fully in one to two hours.

Troubleshooting Charging Issues

We’ve walked you through the process of charging your Lovense sex toy, but if you’ve followed the directions and it’s still not working, there are a few things that we can try.

• Physical Connection: First, and most obviously, make sure that the charging cable is securely connected to both your toy and the power source. If the charging indicator light does not come on, you can unplug both ends of the charging cable, clean the charging port on the toy with a soft brush, and try again. If it is still not working, repeat the process but this time clean the USB plug and port.
• Empty Battery: If the battery is completely drained, the toy may take a few minutes to begin charging. The indicator light will not come on if the battery is at 0%, so you want to let it get a little bit of a charge before checking again.
• Weak Power Source: If you’re plugging your Lovense sex toy into a laptop to charge, make sure that it’s not in sleep mode. However, some laptops just don’t provide enough power to charge the batteries. You can troubleshoot by plugging the charging cable into a different power source. If you are plugging into a computer or a charging dock, try a wall outlet with a USB adapter since that is likely to put out more power. You can also try plugging a device that you know works well into the power source to see if it takes a charge.
• Incompatible Cable: We advised above that you should always use the original cable that came with your Lovense sex toy. If you are using a third-party charging cable, or one that you “borrowed” from another device, your device may not charge properly.
• Condition of the Toy: If your Lovense sex toy is damaged, it may not take or hold a charge. Inspect the surface for scrapes, scratches, or bends (that should not be there). If you discover physical damage, do not continue trying to charge it because it could be dangerous.

To prevent damage, use only water-based lube with your sex toys. Always clean them after every use, charge them back up, and store them properly.
