The VeDO Boom Rechargeable Waterproof Silicone Warming Mini Vibrator is a travel-friendly, waterproof little vibe that promises to deliver big sensations. Does it live up to its name, or is it more of a whimper than a…boom? Read my review to find out.
Key Takeaways

This little toy has a lot going for it. It has different strength levels as well as different patterns. The warming function kicks in fast and feels great. The shape lends itself to some great precision, especially that little bump on the shaft. It’s extremely versatile. The small size and travel lock make it nice and portable. But I just can’t look past its flaws, namely the inability to warm it up before using it internally, the awkward placement of the controls, and the 45-minute play time on a 2-hour charge (booh!). This product is great in theory, but in practice, I was not blown away. Or…boomed away.
Who Should Try It? If you want something small to bring along with you on your travels, this toy is…an option. Probably not the best option, but it is an option. Its slim size and comfortable heating function might also make it a solid option for people who experience vaginal pain with larger toys.
Who Can Skip It? Despite how simple, small, and budget-friendly it appears, I would not recommend this sex toy to a beginner, mostly because of its lack of instructions and the general awkwardness of using it.
You Can Buy It on the SheVibe website for $50.
What Is The VeDO Boom?
The VeDO Boom is a petite, travel-friendly warming, waterproof vibrator that can be used both internally and externally. It has 10 vibration patterns and 6 intensity levels, offering a more customizable experience than most toys. It also has a heating function, making it feel extra comfortable against the skin.

First Impressions and Features
Unboxing
The box is very basic, with a picture of the product in front, as well as a list of its basic features. The top of the box was a little bit scrunched, which I didn’t have a problem with. What I did have a problem with was the fact that there wasn’t a sticker or anything on the box to seal it. It also didn’t come with a proper instruction manual. More on that later, but suffice it to say, I was not a fan.

How Do I Use The VeDO Boom?
The Boom doesn’t come with a proper instruction manual, and there isn’t a guide online. Luckily, you have me to take you through it. To charge it, simply plug the charger in at the base of the toy (it should look like the image below). An indicator light will glow when it’s charging. Charge time is about 2 hours, with a 45-minute playtime, which is…not a good ratio.

To turn it on, long press the power button until it starts buzzing. Alternatively, you may have to double click the power button two separate times to get it buzzing. That’s due to the travel lock feature, and no matter what combination I pressed the buttons in, the travel lock usually seemed to be engaged (I think I got it to turn on with a long press one time). To change up the vibration pattern, press the button until you find your perfect vibe (or keep playing around). And to increase or decrease the intensity of your vibe, press the + or – button.
To activate the warming function, long press the + button until you see the faint red glow around it. There’s no way to pre-heat the toy, so if you’re using it internally, you have to start the buzzing beforehand.

My Personal Experience
Packaging
The packaging on this toy was not ideal. Even aside from the lack of a sticker keeping the toy safe, the box said it came with an instruction manual, but…it didn’t. It came with a guide on how to use the travel lock, but that was it. There weren’t instructions on the box itself either, so you have to figure out how to use it yourself (well, you don’t have to, because that’s what you have me for). But it did come with a guide on how to…charge all their other toys. Thanks for that, I guess.

Design
The device itself looks nice, if pretty basic. It has a lipstick shape with a little bump by the tip of the shaft. That little tip by the shaft is great if you’re using it externally. Now, this could just be me, but I find really narrow toys to be kind of uncomfortable to insert. Something about the pointed shape just feels vaguely clinical. Now, if there was a way of warming up the toy before it started to vibrate, that might make it better, but unfortunately, there isn’t.
Material
The Boom is made of soft silicone, and whatever faults it may have, it does feel nice in the hand. The silicone isn’t particularly squishy, but this toy is more about precision.

Stimulations
Okay, I love the fact that you can control not only the vibration patterns but also the intensity of the vibrations. And to have that feature in a $50 travel toy? Now, that I can respect. The stimulations already start pretty strong, so even though it’s travel sized, you will get quite a bit of power out of it. SheVibe ranks it as a 3/4 on their strength intensity scale, and I can see why.
Sound Level
This toy is pretty loud (ranked at a 2/4 on SheVibe), which doesn’t make it ideal for a travel situation if you’ll be in close quarters with someone.

Build Quality and Dimensions
With a total length of 5.7 in, an insertable length of 3.7 in, and a maximum width of 1.2 in, this toy is quite small. The toy feels nice, but it’s not exactly luxe. Though maybe I’m spoiled after having just reviewed a bunch of Zalo products.
Ease of Use
Despite the simple controls, I had trouble figuring out how to use this one, especially because of that travel lock feature. I also didn’t know that the area around the heating function button was supposed to glow to indicate it was working, so when I first tried it, I thought the function was either broken or incredibly weak. Again, some instructions would have gone a long way.

Using it internally was also a hassle, considering the placement of the buttons. I understand that it’s intended as a travel toy, but some kind of handle would have been appreciated. Unless your anatomy is quite exceptional, it’s difficult to press a button that’s inside your body. The lack of a handle would also make it hard to use with a partner, at least internally.
Versatility
My original review of this toy was a lot more negative (I may have compared it unfavorably to the Elizabeth Taylor movie of the same name) but I gave it another try (I’m just so dedicated that way), this time using it externally, and…yeah, that 1.5 got bumped to a more decent 2 The little bump on the shaft felt incredible, and the solid, flat angle on the shaft was satisfying in a way the pretty, rounded head of the Zalo Confidence just wasn’t.

Using it internally was less ideal for me. I found the tapered tip more uncomfortable than anything else, and holding the toy was difficult without a handle.
The toy is also waterproof, and can be taken in the bath or shower. So, the toy can be used internally, externally, in the water, and while traveling. But you know what they say about a jack of all trades…
Warranty and Support
VeDO offers a one-year warranty.
Minor Issues I Found During Testing
The nonexistent instructions made it difficult to figure out how to use the toy, and the awkward button placement made internal use a bit of a hassle.

Alternatives to the VeDO Boom
LELO DOT Travel
If external pleasure abroad is what you want, then look no further than the LELO DOT Travel. It offers pinpoint precision in a discreet package. While it doesn’t have the option to choose the intensity of the vibration patterns, it does have an elliptical oscillation mode if you want to mix things up.

The Lovense Osci 3
The Lovense Osci 3 offers both internal and external pleasure at the same time, making it great for those who love G-spot stimulation but find it isn’t quite enough. It also has a heating function and is waterproof. It’s app-controlled, with plenty of options for customizing the stimulations. Like the LELO DOT Travel, it also has an elliptical oscillation feature.
