How Do I Use The Butterfly Effect Wearable Vibrator?

To turn on The Butterfly Effect, simply press the power button on the toy and hold the center button of the remote for about 2 seconds (after removing the battery insulation paper). This is also how you turn it off. Both the toy and the remote have a blue light that turns on, so you’ll know when they’re ready to go. To control the butterfly’s shaft, press the top button on the remote for 2 seconds. Then use the top and bottom buttons to navigate the 8 different speeds and vibration patterns. Instead of one button that cycles through all the various options, the top button stops at the 8^th speed, and the bottom button stops at the 1^st, meaning you can easily alternate between the speeds and patterns to settle on the one where you’re most comfortable.

The antennae, which provide the external stimulation, work similarly. The left and right buttons on the remote controller go through 8 speeds and vibration patterns, and you can go back and forth until you find the perfect one. The internal and external stimulations can be turned off by holding the bottom button or the left button respectively. It is possible to use one without the other if you want to have a fun buildup or if you start getting overstimulated but aren’t ready to stop.

The Butterfly Effect arrives with a 50-70% charge, and charging it fully will take about an hour. Subsequent charges take about 2 hours. My Personal Experience

Packaging

My first impression of this butterfly vibrator was not great, since the plastic packaging around the toy had popped open and the remote had partially fallen out. Certainly not a big deal, but also not what one would expect of a product in this price point. Everything worked, though, so no harm was done.

Design

This device has a very cute design, but I know mileage can vary on how fun people want their toys. Personally, I grew to appreciate the butterfly design, especially the way the wings helped it settle around my body, as opposed to the more basic shaft design on a traditional rabbit vibrator. According to the product page on SheVibe, the wings are supposed to “stimulate lateral clitoral nerve endings” as well as complete the butterfly look. I can’t say I noticed either way, but they did feel nice.

I know it’s a nitpick, but I don’t like how the magnets for the charger and the power button give the butterfly a little face (you can see it in the image below). It just raises too many questions, like: why is its face at its bottom? If it did have a face, wouldn’t it be facing me? Would that just make it more awkward? Etc.

Material

The soft, silky-smooth silicone feels great, both internally and externally. The remote felt a little flimsy to me, but it worked just fine, and the fact that it’s so lightweight would definitely be a plus if you intend on taking your play into the outside world.

Stimulations

This sex toy has two motors, one for the shaft, the other for the antennae. Both have 8 different pattern variations and speeds, which are controlled with the remote. The remote can either bring the level up or down (no cycling through with one button), which was a feature I appreciated. Ideally, I would have loved the option to control the speed of each vibration pattern, but I did like the level of customization, and the fact that the shaft and antennae can be controlled separately to get the exact vibe combination you want.

Sound Level

According to the website, this toy reaches 56 dBA. So, you can potentially wear it in public if you’re going somewhere relatively loud.

Build Quality and Dimensions

Aside from my initial unboxing issues, the Butterfly Effect Wearable Vibrator is very well made and felt luxe, despite the cutesy design. The height is 4.04″, with an insertable shaft length of 4.39″ and a shaft width of 1.31”. The buttons on the remote are also easy to navigate without looking and with lube-covered hands.

Ease of Use

It took me a little while to figure out how to use the remote control, but I’m willing to admit that was mostly human error (namely, forgetting to turn on the sex toy first). Once you have the hang of it, it becomes pretty intuitive, and you can quickly find just the combination of vibrations you need to have the most thrilling effect.

Versatility

I tested out the external and internal stimulations separately, and they both work very well, not to mention working extremely well together. So, this toy definitely doesn’t sacrifice one type of pleasure for another. The various functions on the remote would also make it fun to use during partner play, and a lot more exciting than using a controller with just one button that cycles through the various functions. With the option to go back and forth changing the patterns and vibrations on both the shaft and the antennae, you can really keep your partner guessing.

It would be possible to use the Butterfly Effect for some outdoor fun, but definitely test it out at home first, since it isn’t anywhere near as discreet as a lot of egg toys, and the butterfly wings might make walking a little difficult.
