ZALO Desire Pre-Heating Thruster Review

The Zalo Desire is an absolutely gorgeous heated thruster that looks like a fairy princess wand. Will it live up to its name and make my thrusting desires come true, or will I wish upon a star for this toy to get out of my sight? Read my review of the Zalo Desire to find out.
Key Takeaways

Between its gorgeous design and powerful thrusts, the Zalo Thruster is a definite winner! My only issue with it was the controls. They look gorgeous, but aren’t what I would call intuitive. For a toy at this price range, I would also prefer the ability to customize both the pattern and the intensity of the thrusts.
Who Should Try It? If you’re tired of a basic vibe, this is the toy for you! Between the heating function and the thrusting motion (not to mention the design), this one will definitely stand out in your collection.
Who Can Skip It? If you want a simple toy that can just be slipped in and turned on, this is not that toy. It’s also not waterproof, so that might be a deciding factor for you.
You Can Buy It on the official Zalo website for $139.
What Is The Zalo Desire?
The Zalo Desire is a thrusting toy that can be pre-heated to 107° Fahrenheit in order to simulate a human body temperature. It’s no wonder its full name is The Desire Pre-Heating Thruster. It’s also, like, really pretty. As part of Zalo’s Sweet Magic lineup, it has an ultra-feminine fairytale look that I immediately fell in love with. It looks like a princess wand and even has a Swarovski crystal in the middle of the controls.

First Impressions and Features
Unboxing
This thrusting vibrator comes in the prettiest box I’ve ever seen on a sex toy. It’s got a gorgeous design with astrological symbols, an angel and a devil, a centaur, a mermaid, and other magical little details. The wand thruster itself comes with a directions booklet (and a longer list of warnings than I’ve ever seen on a product), a silky bag, and a charger.

How Do I Use The Zalo Desire?
The Zalo Desire is one of the more complicated toys I’ve used. But I will always take a complicated toy over a toy with fewer features, so that’s not a complaint by any means. Even charging The Desire wasn’t immediately obvious to me. On the back of the toy, towards the top, there’s a little flap of silicone with a lightning bolt shape on it that covers the charging port. “Unplug” the little piece of silicone and insert the USB charger (it should look like the image below). It takes about an hour to charge and playtime lasts for 2-4 hours. While charging, a white light on the top will flash, then glow steadily when it’s fully charged.

The top has four buttons (top, bottom, right, left). To turn it on, press the right button. Then press the bottom button, which turns on the heating function. An orange light will flash when things start to heat up. Slide the toy inside (with the help of some water-based lube) then press the right button again to start thrusting! The right button will take you through patterns 1-6, but it doesn’t cycle through the patterns. To get back to a favorite, press the left button. In a lot of ways, this system works better than cycling through patterns, but it has the unintended side effect of turning the device off if you press the left button too many times. To turn on turbo mode, press the top button. To turn off the toy, either press the left button repeatedly, or hold it for 3 seconds.
My Personal Experience
Packaging
The packaging of this toy is gorgeous. It even comes with a bag, a feature that every toy should have! It was one of those unboxing experiences that made me really excited to give it a try.

Design
In case you haven’t figured it out, I think this toy is beautiful. The top part is stunning, with subtle buttons, complete with a crystal in the middle. The bottom part is more standard, with a tapered, textured design. My one gripe with the design: it feels as though it was designed to look nice more than to be functional. The buttons aren’t intuitive to use, especially with the toy thrusting inside you. Also, is it just me, or do internal vibrators always end up sideways at some point? Maybe I hold them weirdly, but all I know is there was a lot more fumbling with the top of the vibrator than there should have been.
Material
The Zalo Desire is made of Dow Corning food-level silicone. The silicone feels deliciously soft and smooth, but since it covers the inner mechanism pretty tightly, it doesn’t have a lot of squish to it.

Stimulations
The Desire has 6 thrusting modes and one turbo mode. Personally, I found the thrusting motions a lot more pleasurable than a basic vibration. So, if you want some internal pleasure, but vibrators just don’t do it for you, this one might be a better option.
The Desire has a “turbo” mode, which is the fastest speed. Personally, I didn’t notice a huge difference between the turbo mode and the regular patterns. I think I would have preferred it if turbo were just the 7th mode, and the top button were the on/off button. There is no way to adjust the speed of the different patterns, which is a shame, even if it would have meant adding more buttons.

The Desire also has a heating function. Sometimes sliding silicone slathered with lube inside your body can feel cold and a little uncomfortable, if not downright clinical. While the warming function on the Desire wasn’t super obvious (which is good, because otherwise…ouch) and only seemed to happen in the tip, it definitely improved my overall experience. There’s no way of customizing what temperature it reaches, but since the effect was already pretty subtle, I don’t think a few degrees of difference would have had any impact on my enjoyment. The heating function automatically turns off after two minutes, but you can press the button again to heat things back up.
Also, if you’re like me and care about semantics, since the movements are relatively short and shallow, this toy should technically be considered a pulsator, not a thruster.

Sound Level
The Desire was very quiet—the site lists the maximum noise level at <40dB, but there’s no guarantee that you’ll be.
Build Quality and Dimensions
This toy is made from Dow Corning food-level silicone, and feels great to hold. The total length of the Desire is 9 in., with an insertable length of 5.12 in. The width at the handle is 1.8 in, and the insertable width is 1.5 in. To me, it fell right in the sweet spot of not being too slim, but not having an uncomfortable amount of girth.
Ease of Use
While the handle is beautiful, the controls are not exactly a breeze to use. However, I was more than willing to learn, and it didn’t take long to figure out. One issue I had, though, was how easy it is to turn off. Hitting the button on the right takes you from thrusting modes 1-6, and if you hit it a seventh time, it just stays at mode 6. However, hitting the button on the left takes you back a mode, and if you hit it after reaching mode #1, the toy turns off. So, if you want to play around with different modes and keep switching them up, you’re going to accidentally turn the device off, unless you feel very confident in your ability to keep track of which mode you’re currently on.
Versatility
This toy is not particularly versatile, and that’s fine. More traditional vibrators can usually be used for internal as well as external pleasure, but a thruster (sorry, pulsator)? Not so much. So, if a heated thruster is what you’re in the market for, this product is great. If you want something that can do a little bit of everything, this is not the one for you.
Warranty and Support
Zalo offers a one-year warranty.
Minor Issues I Found During Testing
The only issue I had with the toy was accidentally turning it off once or twice.

Alternatives to the Zalo Desire
The Lovense Spinel
If you want to go all-out with a heated thrusting toy, the Lovense Spinel is the ultimate option. With interchangeable heads (some of which offer clitoral stimulation) and a powerful motor, this sex machine is much less delicate than the Zalo, but might be more satisfying. It can also be controlled with an app, if that’s your preference.

The We-Vibe Temp
If temperature play is something that interests you, but internal stimulation just isn’t your favorite, the We-Vibe Temp might just be the thing for you. It’s a great vibrator that can be used hands-free, and its temperature can be made both hot and cold.
