The Seahorse Siren by Polynesian Pleasures is definitely one of the most unusual-looking toys I’ve tried. Will this funky sea creature awaken my primal instincts, or would it be better off served up as some sushi? Read my review to find out.
Key Takeaways

Polynesian Pleasures is a company inspired by what they refer to on their website as “the vibrant spirit of the islands”. As a result, their toys incorporate elements of island mythology, as well as ocean life, in their designs. Don’t be fooled by its gimmicky looks; this seahorse is wildly powerful and just plain fun to use. I’m not really a beach person, but this toy gave me some tidal waves of pleasure!
Who Should Try It? If you’ve tried a few sex toys and want to give rabbit toys a try, this is a great option. It’s big and it’s powerful, and will leave you satisfied both internally and externally.
Who Can Skip It? If you prefer your toys a little more sophisticated, the design of the Seahorse Siren might not be for you. It’s also intense and big enough that I would definitely not recommend it to a beginner.
You Can Buy It on the SheVibe website for $59.99.
What Is The Seahorse Siren?
The Seahorse Siren is an underwater-inspired sex toy from Polynesian Pleasures, as part of their In To The C collection (yes, I am childish enough to find that name really funny). Inspired by the playful energy of the ocean, this rabbit vibrator has 10 powerful vibration modes, as well as a warming function.

First Impressions and Features

I really enjoyed unboxing this toy. The box itself features a colorful, fun nautical design, complete with a sexy mermaid, of course. It’s also very well-made, and solid-feeling, with a magnetic closure keeping your toy safe.

How Do I Use The Seahorse Siren?
First, simply plug in the Seahorse Siren with the included USB charger. The charging port is located at the base (you can see it in the image below). An LED light will blink while the toy is charging, then glow steadily when it’s ready to be used. The charge time is 60 minutes, with a 60 minute usage time. Not great for an average toy, but from my experience, that’s pretty good for a warming toy.

To turn on the heating function, hold the bottom button (with the fire symbol) until the corresponding LED light glows. It takes about three minutes to reach its maximum temperature of 107.6°. To turn on the vibrating functions, hold the power button until the corresponding LED light glows. Then press the power button to cycle through the 5 vibration speeds and 5 patterns.
When you’re done playing, hold down the power button until the LED light turns off, then do the same with the warming button. Turning off the power button will not turn off the warming function, as they can be used independently, so be sure to turn off both.
My Personal Experience
Packaging
The packaging on this toy was adorable and felt very high-quality. Products with a magnetic closure always feel so special.

Design
The design is going to be hit-or-miss for a lot of people. Personally, I have mixed feelings about toys designed to look like animals, and while I don’t love this design, I don’t hate it either. To me, it looks more like a snail or a slug than a seahorse, but it’s not realistic enough to be off-putting. But if you’re firmly anti-mollusk (hey, we all have our biases), this will be one for you to skip.
Sea creatures aside, this toy has a really unique shape, with a pronounced curve and two antennae on the shaft (not the external vibe, where you’d expect to find them). It has all kinds of ridges that feel delicious as you slide it in and out, and with a widest point of 2 inches, it’s definitely enough to satisfy.

Material
The Seahorse Siren is made of silicone and is nicely squishy and flexible.
Stimulations
The Seahorse Siren has 10 vibration modes, 5 of which are basic vibrations at different intensities, and 5 of which are patterns. The vibrations start out pretty intense, and feel amazing, both internally and externally. I’m talking a back-arching, audible “Oh, wow” level of amazing.

Sound Level
While it’s not silent, this toy is quiet for how powerful it is. SheVibe ranks it at a 2/4 on the sound scale, but if anything, I think it’s a little quieter than the average model.
Build Quality and Dimensions
With a total length of 8 in., an insertable length of 5 in., and a width of 2 in., this isn’t a small toy by any means, especially with its unusual shape. Personally, I think that smallness is overrated, and much prefer larger toys that get the job done. It is also apparent that quality was not sacrificed for cuteness.

Ease of Use
The buttons on the toy are easy to figure out, but actually using them…not so much. Considering the girth, it requires quite a bit of lube to get it going. While the buttons are easy enough to press with dry hands, trying to forcefully push buttons on a slippery silicone toy with slippery, lube covered hands is not easy. In fact, it was downright uncomfortable. And if you don’t like one of the more powerful vibes, not being able to turn the toy off immediately, or switch to a gentler vibration, would definitely be a problem. With that said, I tried it again, this time wiping off my hands after I inserted it and before I started fiddling with the controls (thank goodness for baby wipes, am I right?), and it worked much better. Though I still say the buttons need a redesign.
Versatility
Although the Seahorse Siren only has one motor to control both the internal and external vibes, they both work equally well. I’ve encountered plenty of dedicated external vibes that don’t satisfy as well as the attachment on the Seahorse. From a design standpoint, I initially questioned the fact that the antennae are on the shaft, not the external part. However, I actually preferred it this way. Without having to line the antennae up perfectly, I was much better able to appreciate the external vibrations this toy had to offer.

Despite its nautical (but nice) nature, this toy is splash-proof, but not waterproof.
Warranty and Support
I wasn’t able to find warranty information on their site or in the box, but they do have a contact page, and they should get back to you within 1-2 business days.
Minor Issues I Found During Testing
Not being able to press the button while using the toy was the only issue I had. It was definitely possible to work around it, but it made my initial test of the toy far less pleasant than it could have been. For a toy that’s otherwise so well-designed, it’s a shame that they dropped the ball on something so fundamental.
Also, while this doesn’t have to do with my experience using the toy itself, it has to be said that there is an element of cultural appropriation to the company as a whole. The “Who We Are” page waxes poetic about the “vibrant spirit of the islands”, but doesn’t actually clarify if the founders are Polynesian themselves. They’ve also named their dildos after Polynesian idols, and list as a highlight the fact that they “reflect traditional Polynesian Tiki aesthetics and feature intricate details inspired by ancient Polynesian totems”. I definitely prefer their “Into the C” collection, which is solely inspired by the ocean, not a specific culture.

Alternatives to the Seahorse Siren
The Oh My Gem Ardor Vibrator by Blush
If you want some powerful vibes with a smaller, more basic design, the Ardor is a gem. While it can’t provide internal and external vibes at the same time, it can be used for both, and works extremely well. It’s tiny and powerful, and much more travel-friendly than the seahorse. If you want intense vibes but aren’t comfortable with a big shaft, the Ardor is a great choice. One downside of rabbit toys, after all, is that you do need to insert them a certain way before you can get the full benefit of both sensations, but you’ll have no such problems with the Ardor.

NS Novelties Obsessions Scarlett Warming Rabbit Vibrator
If you want a toy that does a lot of the same things the Seahorse Siren does, but looks a little less…out there, check out the NS Novelties Obsessions Scarlett Warming Rabbit Vibrator. It has powerful internal and external vibes with a much more basic shape (i.e., it looks like a penis). So, if the idea of getting it on with a sea creature doesn’t do it for you, that might be a better option.
