10 Mind-Blowing Sex Toy Trends You Don’t Want to Miss!

Pleasure tech is one of the most innovative industries these days; it’s finally taking its rightful place in both the wellness and technology verticals. Toys these days are smart! We’ve been regularly reporting on the newest devices, and our tech analyst, Andy K, is here to share what he sees as the future of sex toys.
1. Artificial Intelligence (AI)
“AI” is the buzzword of the decade, but what does it mean for sex toys? First, we should understand what AI can and cannot do. AI can process large amounts of data and make predictive analyses based on past patterns. AI cannot understand emotional intelligence or nuance, make intuitive or creative leaps, or understand context outside of its training.
So no sex toy will be able to invent something brand-new — it only knows what it’s been taught to know. This is not necessarily a bad thing, though, because what AI-enabled sex toys can do is learn all about you, your body, and your preferences. They can then use that data, along with everything that the model has already been trained on, to predict how you will respond and create a deeply personalized experience.

The Autoblow AI Ultra is a great example of how AI can enrich sex toys. It was trained on hundreds of hours of blowjob porn videos, so it has learned how to perform oral sex like a porn star. You can use the programs that it has developed, or you can customize them to your exact preferences. This toy (and toys from Lovense, Kiiroo, and other high-end sex toy developers) can also sync to adult content so you can feel exactly what the actors on the screen are feeling.
2. Augmented Reality (AR)
The last bit above, where adult toys sync with adult content, is technically augmented reality and not artificial intelligence. AR (like the Apple Vision Pro) enhances real-world happenings to create an interactive, immersive experience. It’s very easy to understand why this is so desirable in the sex toy world!

Sex toys can sync with porn, music, adult video games, content creator livestreams, or other sex toys (in person or via Bluetooth from anywhere in the world). AR technology means that you can feel like you’re a porn star or interacting with your favorite adult content creator.
You can also feel like you’re making love with your partner even if you’re oceans apart. People worry about AI/AR replacing human interaction, and that is something that we need to be aware of, but this kind of tech can also bring people closer together by allowing them to share intimate experiences when they are physically distant.
3. More Realistic Sensations
Even sex toys that are not specifically marketed as AI/AR-enabled benefit from the tremendous wealth of knowledge that we are now able to process and synthesize into actionable data. Pleasure tech has matured; it is now almost able to replicate the ways that real humans move, like a flickering tongue on the clit or a hand stroking a penis. Material science has advanced as well, with silicone and polymers feeling very close to human skin.

We expect that these technologies will only improve in the near future. Sex toys are likely to become even more realistic in the way that they move and feel, and they will probably even surpass human sex in some ways (no penis or tongue is capable of vibrating at 11,000 RPM like the most powerful wand vibrators, for instance). As we wrote above, though, AI cannot feel and it cannot love, so even if sex toys offer superhuman intensity, they will not replace human interaction.
The Womanizer Next is an example of this technology. Womanizer released this quietly, but it truly is a game-changer. Next features patented 3-D tech that many of our testers and reviewers think truly mimics cunnilingus. It’s not the first toy to make this claim, but it’s the only one where it’s believable. Other clit-sucking toys tend to feel more like tapping than flicking, and they are not always gentle. The Rubjoy Pleasure Robot is another example. It has the most realistic hand jobs we’ve encountered so far.
4. Biometric Data Tracking
We explained above that AI-enabled sex toys are capable of processing enormous amounts of data. This obviously enables them to customize the user experience, but it also lets users track and monitor their sexual health.
Devices such as the Lioness vibrator for people with vulvas and the FirmTech Tech Ring for people with penises use sensors to measure physiological responses, identify patterns, and make recommendations. It may even be possible to detect potential health risks, although this tech does not and should not replace regular visits to a health care provider.

We were able to test the FirmTech Tech Ring a while ago. It can be worn during sex and during sleeping (nocturnal erections are an important marker for people with penises) to collect data such as the firmness of erections, the duration of erections, and the force of ejaculation. It analyzes this data to draw conclusions and make recommendations so that users can better understand their bodies and improve their sexual health.
This is obviously very sensitive data, and while we are excited about the ability to track and analyze these metrics, we are also concerned about privacy and data security. We urge anyone who is interested in this tech to understand where the data is stored, who has access to it, and what protections are in place. We also urge manufacturers to be completely transparent about this information.
5. Customization and 3D Printing
We have talked about how AI allows users to customize the programs that their pleasure tech runs. Advances in 3-D printing and modeling also let people customize the appearance of their sex toys. This includes features such as size, shape, and coloring, but it goes well beyond that. Industrial designers can make toys more ergonomic, and they can also adapt them for use by people with differing physical capabilities. We love the idea that we can design our own dildos, but we love even more that sex toys will be more accessible to people whose needs are not currently being met.

The RealDoll brand exemplifies this with their sex dolls and RealCock ultra-realistic dildos crafted from platinum-cured silicone. We tested the Dirk dildo, and we were able to customize nearly everything about it. We even had an option to send in photos of our favorite penis (hi!) to have them create an exact replica.
There are a couple of concerns here too. Many of the plastics commonly used in 3-D printing are not body-safe, so while they are great for prototyping and molds, finished products may need a few more steps. The ease of reproducing objects also raises issues around copyright infringement and the protection of intellectual property. Lastly, it is now possible to create sex dolls/toys that very closely resemble real people — so the question is whether we should be able to do this.
Other Exciting Sex Toy Trends
- Environmental Sustainability: This is driven in large part by Gen Z, who buy a lot of sex toys and are willing to spend more on sustainable products. We expect to see more toys like Womanizer’s Eco Premium made with environmentally friendly materials, rechargeable batteries, and recycled/recyclable packaging. Some sex toy manufacturers even have programs to recycle the toys themselves, and we expect to see more of those.
- Wellness and Therapy: Pleasure tech is now able to collect data, analyze it, and make informed recommendations. We expect to see manufacturers highlighting how sophisticated devices like smart penis rings and vibrators that target the Kegel muscles can be used for sexual rehabilitation such as strengthening the pelvic floor, addressing erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation. We don’t necessarily expect, but we do hope that eventually these devices will be recognized as therapeutic and covered by health insurance.
- Blockchain Technology: Lovense was one of the first adult retailers to accept payment in cryptocurrency, which is not really surprising considering how tech-forward they are. However, we expect the sex toy industry to jump on the blockchain train since it offers more security and privacy than fiat currency, as well as additional options for authenticity verification.
- Interactive Content: With more and more sex toys being able to sync to content, we expect to see more platforms for interactive adult content such as live streaming, games, and erotica. Also, vanilla dating apps are currently a $6B market; we would be very surprised if sex toy manufacturers didn’t want to carve out even a small piece of that by facilitating “matches” between users of interactive toys.
- Enhanced Remote Intimacy: Lovense, Kiiroo, We-Vibe, and other manufacturers have developed couples’ toys that can be paired anywhere in the world as long as both users are able to connect to Bluetooth. Gen Z is going to be a driver here too, since they seem to be very open to long-distance relationships. We expect to see further development in this area, including better touch simulation and the ability to sync with multiple partners (with the Lovense Orgy being the ultimate example).
