Ah, the Lovehoney advent calendar: one of the only gifts that truly keeps on giving all year long. You can try one toy a day for nearly a month or one every other week for almost a year. Or you can go crazy and use them all at once. I was lucky enough to receive the mind-blowing selection last year and was eager to see how this year’s stacked up, which combined the brilliance from brands like Womanizer, We-Vibe, and more. Is it worth $200? Find out in my review!
Key Takeaways

Overall, I loved the entire calendar, from start to finish. These are some of the best sex toys in my ever-growing collection, and they’re so thoughtfully put together. I love it so much that I would buy it every year, even if they didn’t change a thing. However, there are quite a new additions this year:
The biggest surprise? The menthol balm—so, so cool, literally. The best upgrade from last year? The dice, which went from sex positions and time limit suggestions to incorporating the toys, and the couple’s cock ring, which added ears for extra clitoral stimulation. The best swap was changing from a sandalwood candle to Kegel balls. I love having something to increase my overall sexual health.
Who Should Try It? This is the perfect gift for your partner, especially if you don’t have many items in your collection. You will have so much to try: anal fun, G-spot exploration, clit suction, BDSM, and more. Also, if you’re new to sex toys and can afford the price, this kit is the perfect way to treat yourself and go all in. You’re certain to find a new favorite and learn about different kinds of pleasure thanks to the thoughtful selections in this curated collection.
Who Can Skip It? This collection is pricey, so it may not suit those on a budget. Also, people who already own a variety of sex toys might feel like they get some duplicates.
You Can Buy It on the official Lovehoney website for $219. Discount code AFF-MSTG10 for 10% off!

First Impressions and Features
Unboxing
I can’t quite put into words how happy I was unboxing this year’s Advent calendar, even though my job is putting things into words—that’s how good this unboxing was. I absolutely fell in love with last year’s collection, and this one has even better packaging. Instead of poking your finger through finger holes to open each gift, this one has separate boxes for each day, all nestled into the box. It fits perfectly, looks stellar, and was a massive upgrade from last year. Thanks, Lovehoney!

How Do I Use the Lovehoney Advent Calendar?
Using the Lovehoney Advent Calendar is easy. Open one present for twenty-four days and try each toy one at a time. Or go nuts and open them all up at the same time and try them together. Either way, many new sexual experiences await in your near future.
My Personal Experience
You can ask my partner: I love Advent calendars. They’re 24 times better than any other gift, and not just because it’s 24 gifts in one. It’s because you have more surprises. Further, I don’t just love the sex toy kind of advent calendar—I love all kinds: movie-themed, cozy-themed, jelly-themed. But the sex toy kind would have to be my favorite because I’ve never tasted a jelly that was so good it made me cum.
Last year, if you’ll recall, my main complaint was that the Lovehoney Advent Calendar didn’t come with any lube. For a high-end gift that’s geared toward beginners, it felt like a massive oversight. But this year, they corrected that and included a generous amount of lube! This is such a thoughtful, necessary inclusion since some of the devices are meant for anal play. And, with the exception of some batteries, I didn’t need anything else to get started. Nearly every swap they made this year was an upgrade, except the final device.
Packaging
The packaging is festive and fun without being overly tied to one specific holiday. Sure, you can give this adult advent calendar as a Christmas gift, but why not give it as a New Year’s gift to start the new year with adventurous, pleasurable activities? I appreciate that it wasn’t covered in Christmas trees, so you can gift it to someone no matter how they celebrate.
As you can see in the image above, the theme this year is red, which would be great for Valentine’s Day or a birthday. However, I’m not sure that red matches rose gold very well, which made for a few clashes, like with the nipple clamps that had red and rose gold right next to each other.
Design
The design of this gift collection gets a gold star. Everything fits perfectly into the gorgeous package, but the thoughtfulness continues as you unwrap each gift. There is a steady supply of low-tech, fun items to try, sprinkled with higher-end, higher-tech gadgets that will delight you and your partner. There was no lull—each surprise was a hit!
Material
The materials are shockingly high in quality for the price that you pay. Everything is body-safe, but not everything will last long-term. The clit sucker and butt plug, for instance, are so sturdily built that you can plan on using them for years if you use them gently, wash them often, and store them well.
The jelly-ish texture of the penis stroker (image above) means that it will be difficult, if not impossible, to sterilize, so that’s something you’ll want to toss and replace after a couple of months. The under-bed restraints, ankle and wrist cuffs, and dice and cards are things that could last you a lifetime.
Stimulations
The stimulations the Lovehoney Couple’s Advent Calendar offers are diverse and powerful. From tickly (the menthol pleasure balm) to jarring (the paddle), from vibrating (the bullet vibe) to suction (the Womanizer Liberty 2), everything you want to feel, you can.
Build Quality
I am floored by the quality of this collection. It’s so good and so worth the money. Not everything will stand the test of time, but you will undoubtedly get multiple uses out of every product.
Ease Of Use
The Lovehoney Couple’s Advent Calendar is easy to use and ideal for beginner to intermediate sex toy users. They provide lubricant to get you started, but you do need to have some batteries on hand to get full use out of the kit. The anal toy is a bit bulbous and may not be comfortable for people who are trying anal stimulation for the first time. Starting with a finger or two can help you gear up, but the inclusion of a smaller toy would have been more fitting with the theme of entry-level toys (we tested some smaller anal toys in this article). Besides that, each device was so intuitive that I didn’t need to read the manual before getting started.
Versatility
I would give the Lovehoney Couple’s Advent Calendar a million stars out of ten—if you could tailor it to your relationship. As is, this purchase is best for heterosexual couples, so if you have the same genitals as your partner, you won’t get as much use out of it.
That said, if you’re in a heterosexual relationship, the versatility is incredible. You may experiment with body parts that you’ve never tried before; you may dip your toes into some BDSM play. You can try playing sex games for the first time ever or learn how to give your partner an erotic massage. These sex toys can be used alone or together. The sky is the limit.
Warranty and Support
Strangely, the Lovehoney Couple’s Advent Calendar is not covered by Lovehoney’s 100-day money-back promise. That’s probably because there are too many moving parts. However, the Womanizer devices are covered by their five-year warranty, and the We-Vibe products are covered by their two-year warranty.
Minor Issues I Found During Testing
My main complaint with this adult advent calendar is that it’s not very inclusive for gay, lesbian, and gender non-conforming couples. It’s the current year! Please have an option for the LGBTQIA+ folks! It wouldn’t be too hard to do. I would replace the cock ring and stroker with more anal toys for those who are in lesbian relationships. There would need to be several replacements in order to suit gender non-conforming or gay couples, but it would be worth it.
The only other thing is that some of the items will only be body-safe for a few rounds of play, like the penis sleeve.
Lastly, this kit includes everything you need to get started except for batteries for the mini-wand vibrator. Keep that in mind if you want to use everything right away!
What’s Inside (Spoiler Alert!)
If you want to be surprised by this calendar, quit reading this since I’ll spoil each device individually. But if you need the information more than you need the surprise, join me as I open and test each gift.
Day 1: Rose Gold USB Rechargeable Bullet Vibrator: The advent calendar starts on a high note with the versatile workhorse, a bullet vibrator. If your partner doesn’t already have one, they need one. Plus, the bullet vibe is useful in a multitude of ways since it fits perfectly into the penis sleeve, couple’s cock ring, finger vibrating sleeve, and G-spot massager.
It only has one button, which turns the toy on and off and cycles you through the intensities and patterns. Hold the button down for a few seconds until the LED light comes on. Then press it briefly to begin the vibes; it has three intensities and seven rhythms. This bullet vibe doesn’t seem like a cheap one—it’s a powerful one, and it got me off easily every time we tried it.
This is the exact same toy that Lovehoney had in the Day 1 box from last year, but with a rose gold finish. I’m never going to complain about having too many bullet vibrators!
Day 2: Fresh Lovehoney Toy Wipes and Womanizer Personal Lubricant (image below): These versatile little helpers didn’t disappoint me at all. Though some may feel like this was a filler present, I beg to differ! You need to be able to clean your toys first and foremost to keep nasty bacteria from making sex difficult or uncomfortable. Lube is the gift that keeps on giving. If you don’t have any, it will change your life. And if you do, you may not have the correct kind to use during toy play. Instead of tasking you with purchasing all the accouterments separately, this calendar includes them. I am a huge fan.
The amount of Womanizer Toy Gel they include isn’t the typical sample amount, but a small squeeze bottle, which is also impressive. It’s a water-based lube, safe for toys, and you get two full ounces—perfect for bringing along on the plane in your carry-on. Water-based lube isn’t as slick as silicone-based, but it protects the body-safe exterior of the silicone toys.
Day 3: G-Spot Dildo: This red, ribbed dildo is hollow on the inside so that you can insert the bullet vibe. The slightly flared base makes it easy to grip, whether you’re using it alone or with a partner. The texture made for an extra sexy ride, and the size wasn’t overwhelming. If you have a harness, this could make for a fun pegging or strap-on experience.
Since the walls of the dildo are fairly thick, some of the vibrating sensations were deadened. But, depending on my mood, I tend to enjoy G-spot vibration less than thrusting, so it still provided an easy path to orgasm.
Day 4: Ribbed stroker: This gift is for the penis-havers. A semi-transparent stroker made from TPE is something you’ll love using with the lube. It has an internal texture, upgrading your normal masturbation sesh to something otherworldly. You can stick the bullet vibrator inside for even more stimulation.
Wash this after every use with warm water and antibacterial soap. Since it’s not made of silicone and is sticky, eventually some bacteria will take up residence in this sleeve. As soon as it starts to show signs of wear and tear, toss it.
Day 5: Blindfold: What did I say when I unwrapped a BDSM blindfold? I said, “hell yeah.” Thanks, Lovehoney, for bringing bondage to the masses. This sexy black and rose gold blindfold will take your partner’s sense of sight away and put you in charge. It will also give you a chance to nap on the plane. Something that can upgrade your sleep quality and your orgasm? I’ll take ten.
The elastic band is large enough that it will fit most sizes of heads. At first, when I put the blindfold on, I could see outside the bottom. Putting one of the straps high on my head and the other lower on my neck helped hold the blindfold down so I couldn’t see a thing. If you can peek with the blindfold on, try maneuvering the straps until the blindfold successfully blacks out your visuals.
Day 6: Rose Gold Butt Plug: I love this butt plug because everyone has a butt, and everyone can enjoy anal pleasure. Stick it in when you’re having intercourse or enjoying some 69. It will take your regular orgasm and multiply it. If one of you has never tried a butt plug before, have them go first. It will open their eyes to a whole new world of pleasure! The rose gold finish is an extra, modern touch.
The wide shape of the butt plug may be too much for you or your partner to use at first. Starting with one finger and then eventually two fingers is a gentler way to begin. You never want to rush anal pleasure, so when I say eventually, I mean it. Your partner may enjoy several fingering sessions with just one finger before they are ready to graduate to two fingers. When they are ready for more, it may take many evenings of fingering them with two fingers before using a butt plug seems like a good idea. The slower you go, the fewer injuries you’ll incur.
Day 7: Vanilla Massage Oil: The only complaint I have about the vanilla massage oil is that I wish there were more. The vanilla scent is subtle and doesn’t bother me, which is high praise since I sometimes have a sensitive nose. In fact, I quite like the scent. It didn’t irritate my sensitive skin, either. And a pre-sex massage was exactly what the doctor ordered. If you use a lot of massage oil, this little container will run out fairly quickly, but it worked well for one evening of pampering for my partner and me.
Keep in mind that massage oil and lube are two separate things. Don’t use this internally. Instead, light candles, turn on some music, and rub your partner down. If you’re insecure about your massage skills, that’s what the Internet is for! Watch some professional massage therapists and then check in with your partner about what kind of pressure they like and any spots to avoid. Use the Body Massager (Day 15), which helps you add force to sore muscles without wearing out your palm or elbow.
Day 8: Wrist Restraints with Rose Gold Accents: The restraints are as sexy as they are badass. They don’t have a lock, just a clasping mechanism, which will work best with bedposts or under-the-bed restraints. If your partner’s hands are clasped together, they can unlock them at will unless they are an exceptionally obedient person. Find a place where you can restrain your partner’s hands separately so they can’t reach the clasp.
Day 9: We-Vibe Sync Lite: This is a couple’s toy that, on its own, is worth nearly half the value of the package ($89!). The Sync Lite is a C-shaped, hands-free vibrator meant for wear during penetration. The internal arm sits inside the vagina, and it has a grippy texture to help it stay in place. The external arm sits along the clitoris and vibrates, adding to the pleasure for both of you.
With ten modes, an app for long-distance control, and a flexible, ergonomic shape, this device makes partnered sex a whole new ballgame. Keep in mind that it’s not posable, so it won’t necessarily stay without you holding it, and it only comes in one size.
Day 10: Thick Cock Ring: The thick cock ring doesn’t look like much more than a sturdy hair tie, but it can take a medium erection and make it much mightier. My partner tried it and found that it was comfortably tight and fun to wear during penetration. Since it is made from body-safe silicone, you may want to shave your pubes before wearing it. The shape of it is like a rubber band, and it tugged on my partner’s pubic hair from time to time.
Day 11: Mini Paddle: The mini paddle was one of my favorites in this year’s collection! In black and rose gold, this stunner will have your partner acting up in no time. One side is slightly cushier while the other is sturdier, so you may want to use the soft side to warm them up and then the other once you’ve got the ball rolling. I’m not sure that you can sanitize or clean the paddle easily, so try to keep it away from lube and body fluids to make it last longer.
Day 12: Sexy Snap Position Cards: The snap position cards (image below) were the only gift in the whole collection that I could have skipped. We live in the information era, and if I need a new position idea, I can just Google it. But these are fun if you need an idea at the moment. I looked at all the positions and didn’t see anything particularly life-changing, but the Sexy Snap Position Cards might come in handy if your partner needs a little extra push to try something new. I love the Sexy Spoon position and use it with my partner all the time, and The Knot is an excellent variation to try for G-spot targeting.
Day 13: G-spot Massager: This non-realistic, black dildo works with the lubricant provided and has a handy little insert for the vibrator. The back of the box said that this had a suction cup, but I didn’t see one, and the dildo did not stick to surfaces when I tried to adhere it. However, it worked well targeting my G-spot, and I loved having a blended orgasm using the G-spot dildo with one hand and the (upcoming) clit sucker in the other. Give it a shot!
Day 14: Mint Orgasm Balm: I did not expect to like the Mint Orgasm Balm as much as I did. This tiny gift is explosive. Rub it around the skin of your nipples, on your testicles, or around your vulva for a chilly, tingly, wintry sensation. It’s a refreshing blast on your sensitive parts, and I was shocked at how much sensation a small swipe provided. At first, it didn’t feel like much, but a couple of minutes later, my panties were arctic. Be patient if you don’t feel it right away. I always keep this on hand now.
Day 15: Body Massager: The body massager may seem like a throwaway gift at first, but it’s not. This easy-to-hold, sparkly little contraption helps you target your partner’s sore muscles without wearing out all your strength. It really upped my massage game and helped me go the distance. In the before times (days 1-14), I could only massage my partner for ten minutes, tops. With the body massager, I could go for up to twenty or thirty minutes without my knuckles getting tired.
Day 16: Mini Massage Wand Vibrator: The Mini Massage Wand Vibrator (image below) isn’t the most powerful wand I own (check out my collection here), but it’s still a fun gift. If your partner steals the bullet vibrator to use with the penis stroker or the G-/P-spot dildo, you can still entertain your clitoris with this mini wand. It’s slightly loud for the amount of power it wields, but it definitely gets the job done.
The power button has the universal power symbol on it, and that’s how you turn it on after you’ve inserted batteries. Then the heart button adjusts the intensities through low, medium, and high, and then takes you to the three rhythms. The first setting is buzzy, and it only gets buzzier from there. Shockingly, the bullet vibrator was rumblier than the wand and noticeably more powerful. However, it was small, easy to hold, and got me off easily during intercourse with my partner. Thanks to its many ridges, it will be tough to clean, so you may want to use this as an over-the-underwear vibe.
Day 17: Dice: The dice are different and better than they were last year. They are more useful and fun because they apply directly to the devices you receive in the calendar. Neat! Last year’s dice had sex positions and time limits, but this year’s has toys that are included in the Advent calendar. So, one die will tell you how long to go (ranging from one to fifteen minutes), and the other will have the body massager, bullet vibe, wand vibe, stroker, paddle, or G-/P-spot dildo.
In general, I find sex dice don’t really help me with creativity because I’ve tried a lot of different things, and I know what I like. But these dice will help beginners who don’t know where to start or how to suggest trying new things to their partner. You don’t have to come up with an idea when there’s a pair of dice telling you exactly what to do and how long to do it for.
Day 18: Ankle Restraints: These ankle restraints are just like the wrist restraints: rose gold and gorgeous. They are easy to fasten and unfasten and will look great paired with the wrist restraints and blindfold. Let’s hear it for power exchanges!
If you’re unsure what to do when you have your partner tied up and helpless on the bed, this calendar will help you figure that out. You could give them an erotic massage with the massage oil and the body massager. You could spank them with the flogger or put the menthol balm on their nipples and genitals. Use the bullet vibrator all over! Tease them mercilessly, and you’ll learn a little bit more about their body along the way.
Day 19: Kegel Balls: Kegel balls (image below) are an interesting inclusion since I typically think of them as pertaining to sexual health more than pleasure. Yet they are ideal for pelvic floor health and can help you increase the power of your orgasms. Last year’s Advent calendar didn’t include these, so I was happy to have something new.
They are firmly kept together with a band, but I was still nervous that, with enough lube, they would come loose if the balls were slightly off-center. You don’t want to spend Christmas treasure-hunting in your vagina for an errant Kegel ball. Yet, when I tried them, they stayed connected to the handle without any problem. You’ll want to double-check that they are in the right place before inserting them, if only for peace of mind.
Day 20: Couples Cock Ring: The Couples Cock Ring looks a bit like a bunny rabbit. It has a circular base where the erection goes, and then a hole nearer the top where you can place the bullet vibrator. Above that are two ears that stimulate the clit and vibrate if you’re using the bullet vibe. The Couples Cock Ring is made of silicone, which means it’s body-safe and easy to clean, but it does tend to tug at long pubic hairs.
I loved this gift because it’s something you can use together at the same time. The cock ring vibrations will make it easier for you to both get off during penetration.
Day 21: Nipple Clamps: Nipple clamps are divisive; typically, people either love them or hate them. If you have super-sensitive nipples, the sensation may feel too overwhelming even on the loosest setting. Either way, I’m a fan of this gift because then you’ll know whether you’re a nipple-clamp person or not, and that’s important information to have.
Day 22: Finger Vibrator Sleeve: I love finger vibes because I love being fingered, and what’s better than a regular finger? One that vibrates against your clit. The silicone exterior is super thin, so the vibrating sensations don’t get dulled at all. The finger cuff isn’t adjustable and is tight. My partner has bigger fingers, and it got uncomfortable after a little while, but I was able to have a few orgasms first. The finger vibrator sleeve fits my smaller fingers perfectly, and I can wear it for as long as I please.
Day 23: Under-the-Bed Restraints: Do I already have under-the-bed restraints? Yes. Was I ecstatic to receive some more? Again, yes. Every bed in the house can be improved by under-the-bed restraints. These restraints remove the problem of needing a four-poster bed to handcuff you or ankle-cuff your partner. You place them under the mattress and can pull them out whenever you’re ready for some kinky fun. The ankle cuffs and handcuffs attach nicely to them, and then you can tuck them back under the mattress if you’re having guests over and want to keep your kinks a secret.
Day 24: Womanizer Liberty 2: The pièce de rèsistance is the Womanizer Liberty 2, the final present in the series. It’s a clitoral suction device that comes with a sexy, chic as hell, magnetic case. Rechargeable, body-safe, and elegant, the Liberty 2 is best known for ripping orgasms out of vulva-owners. It’s small and discreet enough that you can use it during penetrative sex to have a blended orgasm.
To use it, charge it, wash it, put lube on your clit and the toy, and remove any genital piercings. Then put the nozzle over your clit and turn the Liberty 2 on. The suction may make you climax more quickly than you ever have in your life—that’s what it does to me! For an extra dose of sensation, rub some of the menthol balm on your vulva before getting started.

How the Lovehoney Advent Calendar Stacks Up Against Competition
Bellesa 12-Day Advent Calendar
The sex toy maker Bellesa has released a 12-day advent calendar for around $250, with $470 worth of gifts included. This calendar only has 12 gifts, so it won’t offer as much long-lasting fun as the Lovehoney version. It has some similar selections, like an air vibe (clitoral suction), an anal training kit, handcuffs, a flogger, a blindfold, a dice game, and a finger vibrator. It’s geared for beginners and seems mostly meant for women or heterosexual couples. For the price, you’d probably be better off grabbing the Lovehoney since you get more gifts overall—unless you’re a diehard Bellesa fan.
Fifty Shades of Grey Pleasure Overload 10 Days of Play Advent Calendar
Fans of the books or movie series may want to try this calendar, full of black and silver bondage gifts. Ten days feel like a random amount of gifts to include, but you save quite a bit of money since this calendar only costs $120. I’m also confused about the setup. There are mystery gift doors for each included device, but there’s also a picture on the front of the box with all the included items, which seems like it would spoil the surprise. However, this is an ideal choice for someone who wants an advent calendar that leans more into kink.
