Rubjoy with the hands-free standRubjoy Pleasure Robot Review – My Sex Toy GuideJust about every sex machine on the market suggests that it can replicate the touch of a partner. But this app-controllable, dual motor, male masturbator is truly hands-free and simulates human motion in a groundbreaking way. Whereas earlier versions of sex robots stick to a rigid up-and-down motion, the Rubjoy Pleasure Robot offers different angles and techniques, giving you the opportunity to create a custom experience. Will this futuristic robot be your key to infinite orgasms, your rubpride and rubjoy? I’m armed with a long history of sex toy testing and my partner’s willing and able erection, so let’s investigate how it stacks up to the competition, and whether its high price is merited.

Key Takeaways

4.1 out of 5 stars4.1 out of 5 stars

The biggest selling point of the Rubjoy is its ability to provide a range of motions that don’t feel mechanical. No more jackhammering; now, you can gently swirl the tip or stay on the base—it’s completely up to you. Motion-wise, it’s incredibly realistic, but the aesthetic? Not so much. This is perfect for someone who wants a long-term sex robot and doesn’t mind spending the time to adjust it until it works perfectly for them.

Who Should Try It? The Rubjoy is the ideal stroker for someone who needs a hands-free sex robot above all else. If you want the realistic movement of a human hand, this is the best choice as well. It’s an ideal choice for anyone who likes to edge, have tantric masturbation sessions, or be teased for hours, since there’s no battery life to stop you.

Who Can Skip It? If you don’t like using an app to control a sex toy, can’t comfortably masturbate near a power outlet, or don’t have much patience for the sex toy setup process, keep moving. It also won’t work for people who want a sexy aesthetic.

You Can Buy It on the official Rubjoy store for $349.

What Is the Rubjoy?

The Rubjoy isn’t just a stroker—it’s a sex robot. You won’t be doing any stroking of your own with this device. Once you set it up, you use the app on your phone to create rhythms, strokes, and swirls to your liking. Set the tilt limits just right, adjust the speed, and before you know it, you may have the most realistic hand-job experience of your life, no human partner necessary.

First Impressions and Features

Unboxing

The Rubjoy unboxing was frillless. It comes in a plain white cardboard box with many components individually boxed. They also include extra rubber bands and a solid, acrylic oval on which you can affix the stroker. I thought that might have been unnecessary at first glance, but it turned out to be quite clutch. You can sit on the oval anywhere, a favorite chair, in bed, or on the stairs, and it provides a flat, stable place to affix the sex robot.

Features

The Rubjoy has unique features, including:

  • App-compatibility
  • Ultra-realistic stimulation
  • Hands-free stroking
  • Up to 300 strokes per minute, depending on stroke length
  • Compatible with many types of sleeves

Specifications

Rubjoy specifications at a glance:

  • Material: TPE sleeve, plastic, metal, and acrylic base
  • Size: 6” stroke length
  • Color: Black and blue
  • Mechanism: App-controllable, hands-free erection stroking
  • Weight: 1 lb., 14 oz

How Do I Use the Rubjoy?

After you unbox the Rubjoy, attach the suction cup to the glass oval. The main part screws on easily. That’s the simple part, but now it gets trickier. The sleeve is in a hard plastic container, and you must put it through the two rubber bands. The bands are tight, so allow some time because it may be a bit of a struggle to get them inside—it was for us. The payoff is that it holds the sleeve very securely. Then, plug the cord into the back of the blue motor container. The sex robot will move slightly when powered on.

Download the Rubjoy app. You may have to clear your Bluetooth cache for it to connect, which was the case for me. Then use the screen to move the sleeve up and down or left and right with your finger. Once you’ve finished, wash the sleeve and allow it to dry.

My Personal Experience

When my partner tested the Rubjoy, he was nervous at first. The video demonstrations of how this sex robot works look enticing, but also a little dangerous. The organic movements include more lifelike motion than merely straight up and down, but its ability to twist was daunting. Fortunately, after a bit of fine-tuning, he relaxed and enjoyed the testing process.

A word to the wise: look at the quick start guide before beginning setup. The stand has several angles you can adjust, but some of them will get in the way of plugging in or scanning the QR code for app access. We put it together several times before using the image as a guide, and that was not the smart way to go.

Since this is a unique robot, it took a few tries before getting the most out of it. My partner dialed down the angles, stroke length, and adjusted the robot’s angle on the base plate several times before getting it to the right place. But once he did, he thought it was incredible, unlike anything he’d ever tried before. The realistic motion was a win.

When your TPE sleeve wears out, which it eventually will, you can replace it with one of many standard-sized sleeves. We tried several sleeves we had on hand, and most of them worked well. Onahole-style sleeves will fit well, but something like a Fleshlight won’t work size-wise. Sleeves with roughly 3” in diameter that aren’t too heavy will fit the bill.

My partner loved the realism that the swiveling pistons added, but at no point did he feel like it felt like a blowjob. It offered a very realistic hand job simulation. After he created a rhythm and had it loop, he was able to close his eyes and imagine it wasn’t a sex robot.

Packaging

The Rubjoy comes in plain but safe packaging. Each component is nestled in foam and comes in separate boxes. It’s packaged with care, virtually guaranteed to arrive on your doorstep intact.

Design

The design makes this masturbator look alpha, meaning it looks like a first draft. It’s not realistic visually by any stretch. On the other hand, it’s so functional in appearance that people may not realize it’s a sex toy at all.

Next, this is a plug-in robot. That means you’ll need to be constantly connected to a power source, which can feel old-fashioned in a world of masturbate-anywhere, rechargeable devices. Yet, that also means you can self-pleasure for as long as you want.

However, the design is impressive, thanks to the double-axis Rubjoy boasts. This extra component allows the stroker not only to move up and down but to twist and circle, adding a 3D element of stimulation that no other stroker we’ve tested offers. The swiveling motion boosts realism and unique customization, a genius design move that I hope more companies will consider in future products.

Material

The materials used to create the Rubjoy are a blend of plastic, acrylic, metal, and a TPE sleeve. It looks a little bit like a science fair project. However, the materials are lightweight enough that they stay in place for hands-free pleasure. Other strokers are heavy enough that you must hold them, so the lightweight, somewhat disposable-feeling materials are used to great effect with this stroker.

Stimulations

The website calls this gadget a robotic genius. It also says it can reach 200 strokes per minute, a speed that would give most sexual partners carpal tunnel. What does that look like in practice? It was tough to count, but we couldn’t move our fingers that fast. Yet the unique sensation more than made up for our slow fingers.

Sound Level

This isn’t a super quiet toy. It makes nearly constant R2D2-ish noises. When I tested the sound level, it ranged from 60 to 65 decibels.

Build Quality and Dimensions

Yes, the build quality feels a little cheap. The main unit looks like it was 3D-printed. It’s sturdy, but the arms don’t feel very strong. However, it withstood rigorous testing with no sign of stopping.

The dimensions are larger than a stroker but smaller than the other sex machines we have.

Rubjoy App

Connecting to the app is the only way to use this device. If you don’t want to enjoy the app connectivity, you won’t like this robot. And yet, it was quite difficult to connect to the app. The user guide says that the toy pairs automatically, but that wasn’t the case during testing. It took several tries.

The Rubjoy appThe Rubjoy app

The app lets you control stroke length, speed, and tilt. You can also peruse a library of rhythms created by other users. However, you may want to view them before you try them, since this stroker moves around quite a bit. Set the controls so that the tilt is pleasurable rather than injurious.

Compared to other sex toy apps, the Rubjoy app is rather basic. There aren’t any options for syncing to music, connecting long-distance, or saving patterns to the robot itself. It can take a lot of thumb work to keep the pattern you want going. You can play back and loop rhythms you’ve saved, but if you want to keep things spontaneous in real time, you may wear out your thumb. Hopefully, more functionality will be rolled out in future updates.

Ease of Use

Rubjoy isn’t super easy to put together. The rubber bands are extremely tight by design, which can be frustrating during setup. Otherwise, this would be a stroker that’s perfect for someone with grip issues. But there’s no chance they could put it together in the first place without strong hands. Other than setup, this was a straightforward experience.

Versatility

The Rubjoy is only slightly versatile. For one, you must be plugged in, so you can’t use it far from a power outlet. Next, it only does one thing: stroke an erection. You must use the app to control the masturbator because it doesn’t have an interface that lets you do so without it.

On the other hand, you can use it wherever, as long as you’re close to a power outlet, thanks to the base plate. You don’t have to sit on a hard surface; you can bring the hard surface along for the joy ride. Next, since it’s app-compatible, you could give your local partner control. You have full control over the angles, so you can adjust the stroker all the way down, so you don’t slip out. Lastly, this works with many different strokers, making it versatile if you have other 3” diameter sleeves you prefer to use.

Warranty and Support

The Rubjoy is covered by a 30-day warranty from the date of original purchase. That’s not a long time for a $300+ robot, so get started playing as soon as it arrives to ensure it’s in working order.

Minor Issues I Found During Testing

There are a few minor qualms with this sex robot that may feel major depending on your priorities: the clunky aesthetic, difficult setup, and limited app versatility. But for a realistic hand job, there might not be a better sex robot on the market.

Alternatives to the Rubjoy

The Handy 2

The Handy 2 is another tech-forward stroker, but it’s almost the opposite of the Rubjoy experience. It is prettier, the app is easier to use, and you can mount it to your desk. It is not portable as a hands-free device, and it also has a fast-draining battery. If you prefer more realistic motion and don’t mind plugging in, the Rubjoy is the better selection. The Handy 2 costs $239, so it’s a good choice for someone on a budget.
