VeDO Amore Pleasure VibeVeDO Amore Pleasure Vibe ReviewThis heart-shaped vibe from VeDO promises to be as pulse-pounding as it is adorable. But is it really amore, or is it just heartburn? Read my review to find out.

Key Takeaways

2 out of 5 stars2 out of 5 stars

While it looks adorable and has some good vibrations, the overall design of the VeDO Amore has too many drawbacks to ignore. My ultimate issue is that it seems as though it was designed to look cute, not to pleasure a human body. While I’m typically very forgiving of sex toys that sacrifice a little bit of functionality for great looks, if a product is actively difficult to use in order for it to look cute, then I draw the line.

The design of the Amore makes it hard to hold, hard to explore different textures and sensations—it’s even hard to press the button (not a euphemism, I mean the literal button on the toy). So, unless you just really love grinding against a toy and that’s all you want to do, this one will likely be a disappointment.

Who Should Try It? If you love the way VeDO Amore looks and aren’t too picky about your vibrators, this could be a nice one to have in your collection. Because whatever other problems I had with it, it does look nice. The attached handle could make it a nice choice for some partner play (particularly foreplay), but only if one of you has very small hands.

Who Can Skip It? If you need intense external pleasure and you’re picky about your vibes, this is one to skip. Also, despite its lovely looks, I can’t really recommend it as a gift, since the packaging isn’t particularly luxe. While packaging isn’t make-or-break for a sex toy, it’s a huge factor when it comes to gifting!

What Is The VeDO Amore?

The VeDO Amore is a rechargeable, heart-shaped clit vibrator with 10 strong vibration modes. While the front is smooth, it has a handle on the back so that you can move it around more easily (supposedly—we’ll get to that later).

Unboxing

While the VeDO packaging is helpful in terms of showing a picture of the toy and providing information on the back, something about the box looks a little medical to me. The packaging isn’t sensual enough to be sexy, but it’s not basic enough to be discreet either. The packaging also makes it not really gift-worthy in my opinion.

The back of the boxThe back of the box

One thing they do never ceases to baffle me: they include a product guide, but instead of an instruction booklet, it shows you how to…charge their different types of toys. First of all, charging is never something I’ve had an issue figuring out, and second of all, why show how to charge all their different toys? If they wanted to sneak some advertising into the packaging, surely a little booklet giving a short description of some of their top toys would have been better.

How Do I Use The VeDO Amore?

  1. The Amore only has one button, located on the side. Simply press the button to turn it on, then continue pressing it to cycle through the different patterns. To turn it off, long hold the power button.
  2. In terms of the toy itself, slip your fingers in the handle as best you can and press up against the toy. While lube isn’t necessary, it’s never a bad idea to add some to your playtime!

My Personal Experience

Design

The design looks absolutely lovely, however it caused some issues as I was using it. First of all, the handle. The handle itself is so narrow that I could only place it between the tips of my fingers (and for what it’s worth, my ring size is about average, size 6). So, if you’re getting an AMAB partner to use it on you…good luck to them trying to hold it comfortably.

Me testing the handleMe testing the handle

The handle also makes it difficult to hold it any other way, meaning that it’s a lot less versatile than something like the Starsi, which is meant for exploration. For example, there’s no easy way to hold the VeDO so that your clit can rest in the little dip on the top of the heart. The overall shape also doesn’t lend itself to any pinpoint precision, even at the tip of the heart.

The button is also very awkward to use. It’s located on the vibrating side (not the side with the handle), meaning that whenever you want to try a different vibration mode, you have to lift VeDO Amore off your body to access the button. And even then, the button is not particularly responsive, so you have to press it hard while holding it in an awkward position. Those cute, heart-shaped looks come at a cost!

Material

VeDO Amore is made from silicone. While it looks undeniably gorgeous, the silicone isn’t the usual silky, smooth kind—it’s the kind that feels almost…sticky. I am very sensitive to textures, and I am not a big fan of this one. It’s also a dust magnet.

Stimulations

I thought the stimulations themselves were great, and on a clit vibrator with a design I liked better they would have felt wonderful. SheVibe rates the intensity at a 3/4, and I would agree. The stimulations are powerful and rumbly without being too intense, and I appreciated the range of intensities in the first three vibration modes (the basic vibrations).

Sound Level

Confusingly, the product description calls VeDO Amore “Whisper quiet”, then ranks it a 2/4 on their volume scale. Unfortunately, the “whisper quiet” claim is just not true, unless you’re stage-whispering. I thought the volume was a little above average, which normally wouldn’t be a problem (quietness is a great bonus, but not a feature everyone needs), but on a toy labeled “whisper quiet”, it’s not the best.

Build Quality and Dimensions

VeDO Amore is nice and small, at 3” x 3”. While the sound level doesn’t make it discreet, it could be easily tucked away in a bag if you need to transport it somewhere, perhaps to a Valentine’s Day date (yes, I know it’s June, but it never hurts to plan ahead, and I am trying to think of nice things to say).

In terms of quality, on one hand, it has a nice weight to it, and doesn’t feel flimsy at all. However, the difficulty of pressing the button, the awkward shape of the handle, and the (to my mind) sticky feel of the silicone took away from my enjoyment of the toy.

Ease of Use

In terms of basic interface (charging and the button system), VeDO Amore is very easy to use, since it only has one button. However, on a practical level, this toy could have used some adjustments. I don’t want to be a scratched record, but the placement of the button and the handle design made it hard to use. And that’s not even counting the Amore’s lack of…

Versatility

Usually, the fun of toys like the Amore is that their flat, wide shapes can be used to explore different sensations and textures and be used in different ways. While bullet vibes are great at getting the job done, sometimes you want something a little less focused and a little more versatile. The Amore is…not like that.

When I saw the shape, I assumed that the bottom tip of the heart could be used for pinpoint precision, while the dip at the top could be used for some exquisite sensations. But that’s simply not the case. Because of the location of the handle, the only way to hold it comfortably is to just grind up against the flat part of the toy. There aren’t even exciting textures to play around with.

Minor Issues I Found During Testing

As you can probably tell by now, I had quite a few issues with VeDO Amore. In summary: the handle was too small and prevented using the toy in more exploratory ways, it was louder than advertised, the silicone felt sticky rather than soft, and the button was impossible to press without lifting it off your body (and even then took a fair bit of force).

Alternatives to the VeDO Amore

Starsi

The Starsi from Cute Little Fuckers has all the cuteness of the Amore (and maybe a bit more), but none of the downsides. It’s easy to hold (all CLF products are designed with accessibility in mind), and with its different textures and shapes, it’s easy to play, explore, and experiment with it.

Mantric

If the Starsi is a little more playful than the Amore, the Mantric is more sophisticated, with its sleek, pebble-shaped design. While it may look less exciting than the Amore, its curved design makes it feel more suited to caressing your body than the cute but far less functional shape of the Amore.
